Bsyamato: Those look great! Sure, no problem with the Bf-108! I've seen photos of Bf-109s and Fw-109s brought to Japan for evaluation, one day I'd like to get around to building one or both of them.

Put me down for a 1/48 Tamiya Raiden. It's an older kit without a lot of detail, but it does have recessed panel lines, and I've got some new ideas for weathering.

I might do a Gekko and Hayate, as well, if time permits.

Put me down for the 1/48 Tamiya "Frank." Just ordered it, have no idea what exactly I'll do with it other than I know it'll be an army green scheme and it'll probably be a while before I get started, as I have two other group builds to work on, plus a couple of other projects.

Finally found my entry- an 81mm mortar and crew. A little odd but I've got a pile of aircraft and armour on the bench and hopefully  this being different I'll be more motivated to finish. Guy in our club picked up a few odd resin Japanese kits like this over a decade ago and they sit in his stash till he decided he'd never build them and like Frank on 'American Pickers' I went into 'bundle mode' and grabbed them all... BAHAHAHAHA

I rike numbah 11, O honorable Gamera -San. Thats an interesting choice Cliff! I'm not sure what I'm in with but leaning towards a Gekko Night Fighter in 1/48 or maybe a Betty?

Mark: I know what you mean but in the last GB over 95% of the entries were aircraft so I just went with that again. We did two badges, a zero and a samurai so I figure I'll just go the same way this time too so two badges the more serious aircraft badge and the fun badge- a samurai or geisha or whatever.

Waynec: Hey, any of those would be great! It's cool we're getting a little more variety than just aircraft this time, as much as I love aircraft models it's nice to see something else. I'll put you down with TBA if it's ok with you?

Hey Cliff... I found an interesting looking "Frank" in a book I was thumbing through and I think its the one I'm going to try to build. Its from the 2nd Chutai 101st Sentai "white 85" one of the Okinawa defenders, 1944. Later after being driven off the island, they relocated to Kyushu island Japan till June 1945 where I can find no further info. Not sure who the pilot ('s) were, haven't been able to find anything on them yet. Now I need to find/duplicate the markings, (ha), ...

Thank you for 'Hosting' a part II Group Build.  Last semester (well....year) was bit busier than expected and I didn't get much done.  The first Nichimo Judy is together, but no paint -a  torpedo version.

For the part II build Please put me down for another Nichimo Judy, this one the B5N that carried Fuchida Mitsuo at Pearl Harbor (Tail code AI-301), and a Hasegawa Ki-84 1/32.  There will be a few others as I will not be teaching this coming semester and should have a bit more time on my hands.

I also have a 1/35 Tamiya Chi-Ha that I might do.

Finally would a diorama be acceptable??  This is  long range plan with 2 or 3 Japanese 'What-if/project' planes in 1/72 on an airfield with an aircraft bunker (found a very cool picture in an Arawasi magazine), and include a Hasegawa Fuel truck and Starter truck, maybe some figures (if I can find some).  - No kits started yet so this project will be awhile.

Thanks Cliff... What I liked about this bird is how weary she looked. I just cant bring myself to do a "new aircraft" I love the battle worn look. Specially the Japanese birds, being most all camo finish was applied in the field, and I read somewhere that they used little to no lead in their finishes or pre coatings, which caused reduced adheasion and the paint could and at times would peel off in sheets. Would be nice to know who was at her stick most of the time, ...still looking, but what the hey, Any way, wishing all my friends here a great new year!

Doug: I did find this painting, don't know if it's any help or not since it shows the Ki-84 in pristine condition. I've heard too that the Japanese often didn't use primer under the upper surface paint as well. Looking forward to seeing how she comes out- I tried chipping up the paint on a few old paint mules but haven't had the guts to do it to a good model yet.

Thanks Cliff, any bit of info helps. I do several different ways of weathering, Canopy mask works well, just paint over then peel off, Dry brushing, Spraying entire surface with aluminum paint then carefully chipping off, salt, and the way I do alot of Jap. craft is before top coat is fully set, I wrap some masking tape arould my finger and daub it over the finish to pull off the areas I want. Letting the paint set at various stages alters the ammount and effect. You really just have to try to see the different results.Again Thanks!

JGSDF 8x8 is a 2 color camo and, as i have not done one yet, i will do this one.

Started work on the mortar crew yesterday, lots of flash but amazed that so far I've only broken one piece of the delicate resin!  

Thats alot of resin Gamera. I'll be starting the Ki-100 next week. I'm eying the Eduard Pe set for the exterior as I've got the pit covered thanks to Aires, but dang thats another 16/17 bucks. I also have to decide if I'm going to use the kit decals...but thats a ways away yet...

Looking forward to the Ki-100, nice looking plane. The PE sounds really good, I use the ZOOM sets but I tend to mess up a lot of it so I've gotten to not invest too much in it. Maybe I can pick up some pointers from you!
