I'd be in for round 3 as well! I want to get me one of Zoukei-Mura's 1/32 kits. Either the Shinden or the Raiden...

I've been pluggin away at the major assembly once I got the fuselage closed up. The wing halves fit pretty good and managed to walk away with no gaps at the roots, which would been a pain to sand:

I dry-fitted the front cowl ring and it will need some filling at the top near the carb scoop. Shouldn't be too bad I hope.

As far as a Part III, I might be in with a frank in 1/48... If the idea is a go, would you start right away in Jan. Gamera, or hold off a bit and start later in '14? 

Hey Clemons sounds great! Those kits look like absolute gems!

Maybe one day... I still need to get my entries finished here though... looks bad for the host to let everything roll over into the next build!

Nathan: Looks great! Don't think I've ever been able to build something without the gaps there in the wing roots. And the engine looks fantastic! I'm planning to start Part III on Jan 1 since there seems to be plenty of interest. If you want to go ahead and start when you finish your current kit you're welcome to do so-  roll-overs are fine! 

BTW: Just for the halibut I got a comic artist I know to draw up a new  'fun' badge and it looks fantastic!

Wayne: If you still want to do a badge we still need a 'serious' one if you have a good idea.

i'll do a "serious GB badge for III. looks like my JGSDF TYPE 87 SPAA will be in 3 GBs. wonder what the record crossover number is? i am such a geek.

After looking at some pics on the ZM website i decided for the Shinden. It just looks so nice! Those ZM kits are really hard to get by here in Austria though. Hannants doesn't sell them and my LHS has a hard time getting any of their kits. They ordered a bunch of Ta-152s and Shindens 2 months ago. I already picked up one of the 152s (the last one!). I wonder if they have a shinden left...

Clemons: I saw where ZM is now doing a 1/48th scale Shinden to go with the 1/32th kit... gee it's soooooooo tempting!

I keep on reading about an continuation of this GB in a part 3. If so, count me in!

Due to the accident I had in the beginning of this year, the "fine tuning" of my fingers is still not as I would like to have. So my Yamato build is standing still for the moment. On the other hand, I'm still busy trying to make beautiful things.

Paul: I'd forgotten about your accident, I hope that otherwise you're recovering well. Seems like we have plenty of interest in Japanese GB III so I'm aiming at posting the sign-ups in late November - around US Thanksgiving.

As I said anything anyone didn't or couldn't finish in II is welcome to roll-over into III.

and then I used some dry transfers (actually for Soviet Armor) for the 1st Independant Tank Company markings. Not exactly the same but as close as I had in my decal bin

and then I applied a pin wash of Burnt Umber around all raised details...

Hi folks

Finally I managed to come to a completion. I exhausted my bad words arsenal when the upper wing hinomarus of Tamiya just disintegrated when they tried to adhere to the levers of the movable surfaces.

I then decided to paint the hinomarus over the remains of the decals, which I roughly achieved after cutting and applying various masks, playing with my circles like Archemedes for many hours to make everything concentric

I also attempted to make an experimental wash with an acrylic water soluble color,which dried up too fast and left a bloody mess, so I just washed it of and did nothing more because I had started to feel a bit retarded.

Below are some pics of the finished model without any weathering at all.

Nice cockpit t Bsy. I had a heck of a time filling and sanding in the wheel bays of the Tony. That's what I get for cutting and deepening them! I used regular putty and round sanding sticks, and it still isn't perfect, but it has to be smooth so I can glue some pe in there later on.

Stik- The wash looks nice on the camo! Maybe a blending and dusting coat with the lighter sand color to tie it all together when your done?

Yes, I still need to clear off the excess wash. Then after that, I need to add the tracks, paint them up, and do the weathering to tie it all together.

Thank you all for your kind remarks folks. I am very happy to participate in this GB with all these awesome builds.

These are the finish photos. I added some subtle paint chipping with a silver pencil and made a discreet black/burnt sienna wash (with good old artists oils this time).

Also, I thought of making a basic photo scenery with a grass field and a ladder with an oil canister (better background than my messy work bench).

Time for a Tony update. I got the landing gear glued on and all the external pe attached and made some brakes lines from magnet wire:

Have to mask this one myself. Eduard made a mask set for the Ki-100 light years ago and is no more...But, I did find that ez mask makes a set. But after using it I discovered none of the darn pieces match at all, not even close. So I'll have to mask it all myself. Been ages since I've had to...

Hey Cliff, I just opened the box of Tamiya's big Zero. It's a gorgeous model. It's covered in beautifully molded details, rivets and panel lines and the dryfitting of the cockpit parts and fuselage halves revealed a perfect fit everywhere with not even the slightest gap! I'm building it for the Pearl Harbor GB. Could I build that one as a crossover instead of the Hayate I've entered here before?
