Man, that is going to be a cool ship! Looks like more PE then plastic! Cant wait to see it comming together. Any way... finished up my Frank yesterday just in time to tune in to The Walking Dead! The first series is avaible in english from late '70 ..but i suspect some cut 

Not yet seen the new movie from real but i fear than the poetry on old series is lost on this last movie

Thanks! I picked up some of the AK Interactive Weathering Fluid and the cowling here was the trial run. Sorta like the hairspray technique but apparently a little more controlled. Painted the cowling aluminum, put on a coat of clear gloss, then I sprayed the weathering fluid on, and then the black. When dry I scrubbed the cowling with a moist toothbrush and it pulls the black off in irregular patches. I'm going to try a little more on the green uppercoat. After all this is supposed to be a comic take on the Zero so I'm going with over the top chipping! 

Looking forward to the Ki-100 - that was one nice looking fighter.

Cool, I'd like to see what the kit consists of. HLJ normally seems to have photos of what's inside the box, funny they didn't here.

BTW: I used these Vision Models replacement track links on my Ho-Ni SPG based on the Type 97 chassis a few years ago and really liked them, they snap together- big improvement on gluing tiny track links. 

Hey everyone, long time no see. I'm back from my hiatus for now, and would like to re-enter my Airfix Japanese BF109 that I originally entered for Part 1 if possible. It's sitting in it's box still, but I've got all necessary paints ordered so I can get straight onto it

And I must say, looking back through this thread, there have been some fantastic builds already. Congrats to their builders!

A while ago I ordered an "egg-Yamato" at HLJ. Today I got the package and I had promised to show the content.

Note to Gamera, Can you add an "comic-like" egg-Yamato to my list?

It is a simple model. No difficult mounting or gluing small parts. It all seems to fit and the only paint work in it seems to be the propellers, as they are casted in red, and they should be gold.

It is all packed in a small box, but big enough for the ship.

The content of the box looks good and you can see how simple the build is. All is nicely into the plastic bags as we are used from Fujimi.

The build manual is very clear. It shows also what to paint in what color. Sadly, it is all in Japanese. My Japanese is very rusty...

The decals are not the ones we are used to, they are stickers. Also the blast bags are colored by these stickers. I think I'm gonna paint them...

Paul: thanks for posting the photos, that's pretty darn cool! Interesting use of stickers, looks like a younger modeler could build a pretty nice model without painting. But I agree that paint will look much better though.

I'll put you down now, I'd really like to see how she comes out!

BTW: Is your bird a parakeet? I'm afraid I don't know much about pet birds but he/she looks like a fun pet.

The bird is a parakeet. She is sitting on my shoulder or knee when I'm working or modelling. On this moment she's walking around the keyboard and pushing keys.

She even ordered a book! I was calculating how mutch a book would cost me, when she pushed the "enter"... OK. It was $16 plus P&P, but now I have a book with all F-16 tails...

Now I never leave the pointer above OK or order.. :)

I started building the egg-Yamato. There are fine details in the model, so I decided to airbrush the ship in stead of using the stickers.

It is very easy to build, all parts fit very good. The only thing what I have to use the knife and file to cut away the rest of the sprue.

Anyway, after about 1/2 hour  I'm here!

Just added strucyturals on wells cut clear parts and last night some work on the cockpit ,corrected the horizontal rudders, afternoon or tonight will post more
