Dom - I wanted to drive, but hurt my back before I had  a chance I'm on SS Disibility. So, now I do plastic 18 wheelers.

My last name  isn't Worth, but my 1st name is Ken. I picked up the "Worth" nick at CTEMBC forum website. I'm also building Lisa Kelly's Kenworth in 25 scale from Ice Road Truckers.

*cue the Arnold Horshack imitaton...*

I DO I DO!!

I had thought of joining this BUFF GB and building that very B-52 (XB-52 49-0230).

Late in its career, the XB-52 flew with two P & W J-75's.

Looking like an overgrown B-47, I really wanted to build this BUFF, but I've just moved from AZ to TN and everything is pretty much packed away. I may dig out a 'D' that is constructed but needs a new paint job. I have had it since just after high school, (I'm 47 now...) and it has been through a LOT. It is now in "flight" configuration with the gear and bomb doors all shut, but needing finishing and detailing with Phase V and other things to make it more correct. That shouldn't take much digging through boxes to find all I need.

I had asked Allen earlier by email about the command shields on the XB below. Does anyone have any idea what shields they would be, nose under "Stratofortress" and tail centered in the orange stripe. Anyone? I will build this configuration eventually when I get settled.

Wynder,

Thanks for that pic, that is one very cool looking BUFF, and yes, looks like a B-47 on steroids alright.

Refurbishing a beloved BUFF is definitely a good idea, I am partial to airplanes with a bit of history, and really like putting them back into commission, so I'll put you down for that.

Please send us some pics of what she looks like now, I would love to see them.

It has become obvious to me that I need some help with posting here. I don't know how to quote to reply, I don't know how to attach these nice GB "signs" or whatever they're called... Is there a page on how to use this forum? I'm amazed that I successfully attached a photo of the six-engine XB-52 when it was doing engine testing. Must this be so complicated?

Wynder - I too am at a loss for posting quotes. I'll be watching to find the answer. Thanks for posting the question. I should've done it long before this.

Guys, first you need to click on the "Use rich formatting" link.  If it's not at the bottom of the reply window, hit Reply.

This opens the Edit window. Just above in the text you'll see "Quote" . Click on this and it will show your the quoted text in hypertext tags ( [quote: name]  at the beginning and [/quote] at the end.

Hit Enter to move down a line and then enter your reply.

Cheers,

Russ

Hi Wynder,

If you want to reply and quote, you hit the Reply button, then, hit the text that says "Use Rich Formatting" that has popped up beside it. Next, you will see Quote in green, and then you hit that.

The other person's post should now be visible, and the cursor should be just beside the end of their quoted post. In this format you can also use the tools that appear, you have used the video/picture link successfully.

To change one of your posts, and this comes in handy for racy nose art and the like as this is a family siteSmile

you will see a tiny yellow pencil to the bottom left of your post, hit that and your post comes up and then you can edit away, if you click on that photobucket tag and hit delete it should go away.

When you're done, hit "Post" and your revamped post should show up.

IF you go to "Forums" there's a menu of helpful info and tips, and a link to a "Help" forum.

Good luck posting, questions are welcome if you are still having problems.

Testing I don't see "Quote" to click on and I clicked on rich formatting. The edit box comes up empty

If you get into the Rich Formatting mode, you will see the grey banner at the top of your text box, it has all the tools and options in it. Just above that and to the left you should see the word "DESCRIPTION" and right above that there should be the word "Quote" in green.

if it's not there, maybe there's a compatability issue with your browser.

Well, I started  sawin plastic last nite on my first GB. Russ has some pics he gonna  post for me. For the record, if anyone here has any leftovers from the GB, Dont throw them away. I have been saving 1/72 B-52 parts for the last 20 years.  Anything from landing gear to whole planes, I dont never knonw what Im gonna need or someone else may. Anyhoo, back to the GB, Id tell you what all the plane will have , but since its a "secret CIA one-off the never existed" you may realized the its mostly classified....Wink

Speaking of which, Eduard just released a P-38, with very risque nose art.

I can't post it it because this is a BUFF thread, PTP, and it is a family site, but if you search for Eduard Kozy Koza, you can check out the, uh, new kit 1170, P-38J Over Europe.....very nice bird....Whistling

Here are some pictures of Buffjock's "CIA B-52". He's adding forward and aft fuselage plugs here...

The last picture is of his Russian Bear kit.

Buffjock;

That's some serious Buff-O-Plasty going on. I have two questions;

1) Where'd you get the fuselage plugs, scratched?

2) How are you planning to reattach them? I have an idea if you haven't thought of it already, but don't want to crowd your build.

Russ: thanks for posting those, it's kind of scary seeing the parts lying around like that, a spooky reminder of the "Boneyard" and the "Guillotine".

Dom,

Fuse plugs were borrowed from another AMT kit I got from ebay about ten years ago. It wasnt a complete kit

Initial attachment is done with ordinary testors liquid glue in the little black squeezy bottle.  After the initial set, it will be  reinforcded with good ole Devcon 5 ton epoxy. It AINT coming back apart....Maybe I shouldnt mention my "Eliminated" B-52D. Im tellin ya Kasner, its just like the boneyard around here....
