me too with the too many GBs. looking at the completion dates and other committrd projects all my GBs are on hold except gift since it needs to be done for IPMS NATIONALS. the good news is 2 GBs are ready to camo, one is ready to prime, and one is a pair of modern subs though they are DML and need serious hull seam work.

Greg, Clemens, welcome aboard. I know what you mean about being in lots of GB's. I work on the GB's which are ending next and just hope I can complete them all. But I do find it helps give me more incentive. Though I think I am pushing things a bit far at the minute.
ww2psycho, lets be flexible and say a definite yes to both. I am doing the Tamiya 35th Pz IV Ausf J, so will be nice to compare the two. Though I am a sucker for the 251, you might say I have a bit of a fetish.

* World of Tanks term- derp gun is a big honkin' howitzer type weapon that hits with a gigantic HE charge instead of AP. I don't think they were very effective against armour in real life!

I may do both! I'm currently working on an LCM 3 1/48 from Hobby Boss so I might pick up another Sherman tank to put in it as well.
Greg, I think they were designed to be used against bunkers and strong points. I believe these were one of the designs that Hobart came up with, along with the DD tanks, flail tanks and others.
ww2, let me know once you decide, I will add you to the roster in the meantime. You could always save the 251 for the halftrack GB in march and do it in both.

Bish: Yeah, it's one of Hobert's funnies. And yes it was designed to blow up bunkers and pill boxes- I can't see hitting a tank with that thing except by accident. I just find it funny in the WoT game some people actually use them as AT weapons!
I have never come across it in WoT, I take it it is one of the options for the Churchill. I have only just got a Churchill I, so not got that far yet. I guess some people just like the idea of the weapon, and as there's no bunkers to hit, tanks have to do. But I do wonder why you would even add it in the first place.
I don't play a Churchill but I apparently it can mount a 3 or 3.7 inch howitzer depending on the version. I tried some of the howitzers on some of the other tanks and couldn't hit jack with them, I think you're supposed to close to point blank range.
Yeah just seems odd that the programmers would add them at all since they weren't designed for tank to tank combat and there aren't any soft targets in the game. I wonder at times what people learn from video and computer games along with movies etc about history.
I do think it's funny though to say DERP GUN, it came up on the forums and no one seemed to know where the term came from other than that it's supposed to be easy to use so people started saying it's for DERP! players- darned if I know!

Not at all, its nice to get a grasp of what other people, maybe none modellers and probably not that much into the history, think of these sort of things. I will wager a large number of people playing those games have no idea about how they really worked. I get annoyed at people complaining about campers when they may simply be using their tank to the best of its advantages.
You only have to look at some of the tech trees for individual vehicles to see how far from reality the game is, but then it would be a lot less fun.
WoT is a lot of fun IMO, but some vehicle upgrades are really wierd... I just got me a Tiger 2 and you can mount 105mm cannons on that thing! (I don't know of any king tiger having one of those...)

H-34, saw this kit for $82 plus shipping. It comes with a jeep and is 1:35 scale. Don't have any Sherman's with Normandy markings and it will cost another $56 to get one:(

I just checked the world clock on google and its 12.25am in Normandy France ,
Technically , I guess I'm a little early getting started but it's all been filing and sanding the flash , lumps and bumps from the pieces so far
Mach 2's instruction suggest using copper wire for all the step/ladder rungs on the structure buildings , unfortunately a good many of the kit supplied ones in plastic are broken in half I'll have to make a jig of some type and bend pieces of wire to size

I think the first Airborne troops landed around midnight UK time, not sure what the time was in Normandy. But as its now 5 to midnight in the UK, I think we are well within the time frame, so knock yourselves out guys, this GB is now officially open.
Gamera, don't worry, I will be lucky to start mine this side of the new year. But its nice to have the builds spread out.
Ken, yes, my plan is for the Halftrack GB to start on March 1st next year. Got a couple of other GB's staring between now and then. I am sure you can find another halftrack by then.

I'll build the panzer IV and the half track for this GB. Tamiya offers another halftrack in 1/48 too so I may get that if I'm interested still at that time.
Nothing glued as yet . I'm still filing and sanding all the sub assembly pieces
By tomorrow morning I should be able to break out the glue . I did notice on the sprue frame about 60 small 1mm diameter pieces which appear to be the handrail posts that fit around some of the structure buildings on the boat ; The pieces just below the crew figures on the sprue frame . I was thinking of using some 1mm evergreen plastic rod instead for a nicer look . The sprue frame is quite thick and the attachment points mould themselves into most of the pieces , so it's time consuming carefully cutting and cleaning up each part but I'm enjoying the build so far . It's 21.10 hours on the first day , I'm happy with my progress so far and I have been reflecting a lot during today on all those Service Personal who landed on the Normandy beaches , especially the first wave of troops . John .

Hey nice stuff there guys!
I was fooling around after midnight last night so I pulled out the Churchill and looked her over, I did cut off and cement together a few of the suspension parts so I guess I'm officially started! Since I've mostly reached a bottleneck with airbrushing my other stuff I'll probably get some work done on the assembly here and then stall for a while when it comes to painting.
Nice choice Greg. I was going to build that kit myself, but the markings I have don't fit the time frame. I am a big 251 fan and that's my favourite version, so i'll be looking forward to this.
John, some build you have on your hands there.
