Ju 87 Stuka GB

LOL!  Good Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Here I thought I had about 17 hours to spare before the cut off time for the GB and as I'm looking at the pics....I noticed I forgot to put the bloody wire antenna on her!    How embarrassing! I will super glue it on when I get home and post the "really" finished pics!  My apologies everyone.  Got a little ahead of myself.

Didn't I read somewhere that this gb was extended?

Bish extended the GB a couple of months.  

Johnny, yes, its extended until the end of March. But as with my other GB's, any that have been started and pics posted before the end date still count.

Eagle, a really nice looking build there, well done on the splinter and a good job all round. If you can get hold of those Swastika's, you can always add them later.

But really, missing the antenna, what ever next, no painted canopy frame

Here is the Mono kit along side the Airfix kit.

Ok Eagle, got you added to the front page. I can swap it out once you get the tail marking on. Greta looking build and a big well done, I know German aircraft are pretty new to you and your getting to gripes with them nicely.

You will soon have your own Stuka Kette there.

Thank you sir!  The research I did (googled pics) showed that most didn't have a wire antenna.  But since I change the strings on my guitars every 2-3 weeks, I have plenty of old strings sitting around, so why not!

Eagle, it is often hard to see the wire's on a lot of WW2 aircraft, but they should always have them, if there is a mast then there should be a wire attached.

I got My Stuka finished up, but had to use the iPhone for pics cause the wife had stole the camera. Hope they are acceptable. This Italeri kit was a mixed bag. lots of flash for a new kit and the fit on the wing halves was awful. The plastic and detail in places is real soft. It would benefit from a scribe job just to deepen some lines for washes later. on the other hand, the decals were great(Cartograph), and the clear parts are crystal clear with nice frames. The pilots sliding portion is molded too oversize and looks odd if you were to model it in the shut position. The way the cowling attaches to the fuselage leaves the angle a bit off, so the exhausts aren't parallel to the lines of the fuselage. Its very subtle though... I love the little pe fret it included as some of those parts are a necessary add on. In the end I had to source swaztikas and different style of underwing crosses for the night scheme I chose. Hope you guys like it and thanks to Bish for hosting a long and successful Stuka group build!

Nathan, that is absolutely beautiful. I have seen similar schemes on D-7/8's and would love to do one like that, if it comes close to yours I will be well happy. Can I just confirm that is a standard splinter scheme under that isn't it. And which colour is laid over that again.

I wanted to use the 6th pic but it would not load, so I have used the first one.

Thanks for the good words Bish. Yes, I did spray the standard splinter underneath. I didn't spend too much time with it as I was gonna cover it in squiggles anyway. I just used a piece of cardboard that comes in Eduard pe kits as a mask and quickly sprayed the splinter. The squiggles were done in rlm 79 sand with a bit of dark yellow mixed in. All colors from Gunze Aqueous. Post shading and oil pin wash on top of everything. I was a bit hesitant to try the scheme but I really like the look of the night exhaust wanted something different than the standard splinter. Glad you like it.

You're not alone - I'm right here with you. My build was going pear-shaped, so I put it aside for a bit until my frustration wore off. I did manage to get the RLM 71 topcoat painted last weekend, and I'm hoping to do the splinter this weekend.
