The "Long John" NHRA dragster with the De Soto Fire Dome V8, Cal Rice's Hot Rod magazine dragster.

The Don approves. I look forward to seeing them on a screen bigger than that of my iPhone.  But looking at them in my mind I hear the old radio commercials...

"Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! In Pomona..."  ;)

Don, I submit number 2, the venerable M48 A2. Actually not too bad a kit, but it shows its age. Adding the mantlet cover was enough for me. Markings are from the Berlin Crisis in October 1961. Those were A1's but that's Leiben.

Well it's been slow progress on the Mustang.  Here is where I am at.  To give you and idea of my frustration with the slow progress. I actually picked it up a few days ago and starting painting the aluminum without masking the nose or canopy. I was careful to keep the airbrush pointed 'away' from those areas!

And here is the state of the P-47... To save time I tried gluing the fuselage together with CA. Well CA leaked from the seems unknown to me and I did not realize it until I had several "CA Fingerprints" all over the model. Good think the CA was old so  my digits were not permanently affixed to the kit! I also did not instally cockpit tub thinking I would just glue the canopy closed and paint it black, forgetting that on this kit there is NO WAY to make the canopy fit in the closed position!

Tough luck on the Tbolt,  CB. That Mustang is looking real nice!

CB, you can always use CA debonder to open up the fuselage and get the cockpit installed... and yes the Mustang is looking pretty good there. Gotta love a shiny pony!

I was thinking back to the original MM GB, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the term was coined by DoogsATX in another thread, along the lines of "...before the Monogram mafia comes down on me...".

And you-know-who took up the challenge.

Yeah, it was either him or Hans that coined the term. He and a few others here were constantly dissing the family line. I started the "show off your R/M builds" thread, and Hans started this...

Tbolt still going together. but, it will probably be a ceiling hangar :)

Stik, I opened the wall behind the engine with a dremmel so I can slip in the cockpit tub that way; however, I found the Otaki canopy is almost a perfect fit for the monogram kit. So I will probably use that and go with black windows. As for the mustang... yea, I have to get that one done!

Hey, I finished a Monogram model!  It's the 1/72 scale Bearcat done as a F8F-1 with a Lonestar resin detail set and Squadron canopy.  I did also finish the B-36 a while back so I'll add a picture of it here as well.  The B-36 build log can be seen in the B-36 group build

Thank you for being a true defender of la familia!!  Your work in restoring and protecting the honor of the family has been inspirational!  Maybe those Tamigawa goons will start showing  a little respect now!!

Gentlemen, great builds all the way around!!  Especially like the B-36 Peacemaker.  That is a huge and impressive kit; you really did the old gal justice!

The M48 looks like it is ready to roll through Check Point Charlie!

John those are indeed a nice pair of builds. The B-36 is especially an impressive monster! Seeing as how they are both the same scale I am curious to see how they would look in the same photos for a size comparison.

Thanks, Stik.  I will eventually take such a photo, but not until I get the display case finished that I am building to hold the B-36 and other large models.  Another month maybe.  I have the B-36 stored up high and locked away from the cats at this point.

I don't know if the B-36 qualifies for a badge as it was started two years ago but just finished, but the Bearcat was built in the last two months.  I don't think I could do a B-36 in 6 months in any event.

John, I appreciate your sharing the B-36 with us, but a two year build span is outside the scope and rules of the GB. 2 builds in 6 months from within the date that the first build is started. The Bearcat can be number one and you have four months to get one more done.

Nice dragster!!  I've never seen one with white walls!!  Not a lot of drag racing going on here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia....not enough straight, flat lands!! I imagine that speedster couldn't turn on a dime to negotiate some of our more "challenging" curves!!!  LOL

Great looking builds guys. Plan on getting the mustang done my end of october (now don't roll your eyes!) been very distracted with warm weather activities of late. Someone kindly stole my camera from my car a week or so ago so getting some pictures up will require borrowing for the time being...

Just want to let everyone know that I am still alive. I actually stumbled into some workbench time this past week. The mustang is getting there slowly but surely. 

Glad to see that you and this thread and build are still happening.  Your P-51 is looking very sharp
