I'm in 

Heller 1/400 HMS Illustrious Taranto Raid w/ Swordfish -- yep - same as Bondo but arrived at independently.  I've been working on this for longer than it took Vickers to build the 1:1 so the GB should help me actually finish it.

OK, so what's gpong on here? Is this a restarted GB? If so, what are the rules?

Well, restarted sounds a lot like it stopped, but in reality it just has gotten very slooowwwww...

So I prefer undormanted, if that be a word.  We have a built up long run and it is so much fun it ain't fit to stop.  And I miss the Rum Calls.

Every year we alternate the theme, this year it is RAF aircraft and RN ships.   Although it has not been stated, 1937 to 1946 might be a good year spread so there is some focus.  Ain't good to be unfocused, just look what happened to Stik, he looks pretty unfocused, no mind which critter he is.

Here is the original rule post, it is the second post in the FAA GB which we will be posting all building and general posts to.  This thread, the Roster, is just for joining and keeping track of who is in, and for posting final build completed photos.

Rules are pretty slack except for making sure senior officers get sufficient rations of rum.  So cross builds are fine in my book.  Keep in mind my rank is Admiral!  (See statement about senior officers and rum rations).

Welcome to the FLEET AIR ARM GROUP BUILD!

This GB started out in 2007 as the Fleet Air Arm Group Build and it was a great success. We the original members of this GB wanted it to continue in the same "building for fun" format that has kept us together for such a long time.

However, we also wanted to make newcomers feel welcome so this post is to explain just what it is that we do around here.

This Group Build is about Naval Aviation. In our first year (2007-2008) our theme was Fleet Air Arm aircraft, so anything that flew in Royal Navy markings was allowed.  Some of us are still building models on this theme and if anyone else would like to do so, they are most welcome. As this thread is still going strong, we decided to change the build theme yearly.

 Year Two: (2008-2009)
This was the Fleet Air Wing GB and its theme was Aircraft from the US Navy & USMC.It was a great succcess and we really got to see some fantastic builds and made new friends.

Year Three: (2009-2010)

Yes, we transferred our flag back to the Royal Navy! May 2009 celebrated the Fleet Air Arm's 100th year of service and marked the first 100 years of naval aviation.  It was a good GB and was going well until FSM changed its web design and format....................

Year Four 2010-2011. This was when the GB became splintered. Half of us just did not get on with the new site so we left. Some of our number had their say and harsh words were exchanged. This caused an exodus over to the FAA SIG over at Swanny's models. Matt was very kind to us and took us in and for a while things plodded along. Through one thing and another, in my own case working away from home a lot. The SIG did not have the same atmosphere as the original FAAGB. So, the GB was disbanded, with just a small number of good humoured model builders carrying on where we left off.

Year Five 2011-2012.

Five years? Where did that go? Well, here we are.  Older and wiser.........well some of us!

OK, here's the deal. We're here. We enjoy each others company and we enjoy building models. This GB will be open to anyone who wants to build a Fleet Air Arm aircraft. In any scale, with or without aftermarket parts. We don't give a hoot if your a master modeller ordained by Mr. Tamiya himself or a complete novice just wanting to find a easy hang out for a newbie to this hobby. You are all welcome. All you need to do is enjoy yourself and have fun!

Be warned though, we do not tolerate rivet counters or puffy chested know-it alls. If that's you, go play elsewhere. This is for the average joe who wants to enjoy and share his hobby with a dash of humour and maybe some good natured nonsense too! 

So this year its just one or two of us still lurking................unless you, dear reader want to tag along!

Me thinks there was an episode on the old USS River Hobbies where a certain Captain of the Fleet was crawling around in his foam and pretzels looking for a canopy part.

Pity that ship is long gone and sunk. Cook the Admiral a chop and he'll break out the Claret.

I have not even started my build and I already like it here in this group. 

Two questions.

1. When does this tub shove off?

2. Do Coastal Command aircraft count?  If so, I'll be in with Revell/Germany's classic, rivet laden PBY in the markings of the PBY that found the Bismarck.  Come to think of it, this build was probably the reason I got that kit years ago.  The Circle of Life is complete.

Do I look like I work in Customer Service?  What part of nothing but blue water all the way around you don't you unnerstand!  Hic...burp, mumble..where's my grog.

An if wer gonna have boats why not Coastal Command?

My 1/48 Hasegawa stringbag is on it's way, should have it by Wednesday although I probably won't start on it until I get some other obligation out if the way. I also still need to get a PE set for it.for it. Now do I post WIP posts on the old FAA thread or will you be starting a new thread?

Avast ye hearties!!! I am still afloat, life has turned up its ugly face once again. Space is at a premium atm so the Bucc will have to wait. Got a 1/72 Academy Sopwith Camel on the bench at the moment to shrug off the block i've had. Got the bug and chugging along to start getting some birdies in the hangar. Seriously, hope all is well in the wheelhouse.

All right,l looky here at all these mighty promises from 2015, yer bloody fools.  This as it says if'n yer not too blind drunk to read the first post is the "current" roster a' the Fleet Air Arm GB.  It's gonna be updated tammara for the current bunch a liars, er, "laddies".  I'm expectin those of rank, not just those who are rank, to be the first to record they seen this and will obey.

And I say again, all the builds go in the original Fleet Air Arm log, NOT HERE!  This is the roster, and where the completed builds will be posted only.
