I just found a Basler turbo prop conversion to convert the new Airfix C-47 into U.S. Forest Service smoke jumper aircraft

That would be SUPER cool. Awesome, do that one for sure.

Well, I have finally got started on this kit, if everything goes as planned, I may be able to add another kit to this GB. Here's what I have so far. Hopefully I'll get a coat of primer on the office area today and get some other shots added.

BK, I would like to change my entry to the 1/72 Academy F-8E Crusader OOB. I will be trying to swap the Tornado (and a few other kits) a for a 1/350 German destroyer in the next IPMS meeting. I was looking through my stash and totally forgot I had the F-8, which is a shame as I really like that plane and always wanted to build it.

BTW, you should really try to make it to the meeting sometime. In Boise, not too far from you if you go straight down State Hwy.

Speaking of the meeting in Boise, when is the next one Steve, and where are they held again?

3rd Saturday of the month in one of the side rooms at Foothills Christian Church on State St in Boise. I missed this last weekend due to my foot surgery but I will be there next month on the 18th. I will likely bring the Puffer launch dio and possable the Mariner, bith of which I want to show in SLC in September. I would really like to see you there. My wife even makes it on occasion because she enjoys the comradery and looking at the builds.

I"m in for this one.  I will build a 1/72 YF-23 to start.  Shouldn't be too dificult of a kit to build as I am also building a Do-335 with a ton of AM thrown in.

Nice choice for a badge.  If you have never seen one take off, you have missed one of the prettier sights in aircraft life, especially at night......  After looking at the Verlinden office I think I'll stay with the kit one and just use the Eduard PE, but may use some of the rest of the cockpit PE from Verlinden.

BK - it is the old DML Air Superiority Series Kit.  Got it off of Ebay a while back.  Will have to look elsewhere for the decals as they have yellowed horribly and look to be unusable.  I think that in total there might be 35 pieces to the entire kit and no surface details.  Might look into scribing some of the panels on this one.

ALright Gentlemen. It's time to get the party started. I'll begin with this kit here:

It has 15 seperate, large parts trees and I believe over 200 parts. This should be a great one. It will be a few weeks before I pull the trigger, but I may get antzy and start sooner.

Bk, looks awesome there!

Same here with me, I thought I'd put mine off till I get some other stuff done but I might not be able to resist and do a little work this weekend.

I hear that.  Started scraping the details off of the pit parts that get the Eduard PE last night before washing and painting.

Bish,

Glad you like the badge. I think it is one of the coolest planes ever built. Saw one in action when I was in the AF many moons ago. Super cool.

Well here is my entry, will get started this weekend. I might convert it to an "A' to use these decals or I may find a sheet for a B or D variant in my decal pile.

Brandon. Pencil me in for a Revell 1/72 SR-71 Blackbird. I've wanted to do that for quite a while now

Thanks I usually don't go in for the modern jets, but there are a few I like.

Great choice for the badge

Thanks for the heads up on the He 162 Bish. This does look like a good GB, there's plenty of interesting builds.

My 162 is going to get post war French markings, so it should look a little different. Berna decals have it on one of their sheets.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

GT, gotcha down, and welcome. I think we are all looking forward to this one.

I have a Testors 1/48 Sr-71 Blackbird in the stash, but I can't find the ambition to get going on it.

Here's a bit of SR-71 Blackbird trivia.

When Pres Johnson announced the Blackbird to the world, he mistakenly called it the SR-71. before that the correct title was the RS-71

I put together most of the cockpit for the Kinetic 1/48th F-16B last night.

Pros:

1). The box is stuffed full of sprues- there's enough ordinance to equip a whole squadron of fighters.

2). Detail seems well done on all parts.

3). Parts to build either the one-seat F-16A or the dual-seat F-16B.

Cons:

1). Instructions are provided for the earlier kit of the one-seater. There's a couple of errata sheets for this kit. There are no instructions provided for the dual-seater cockpit. I found some instructions in another Kinetic F-16 kit that I used. Seems like they could have put in one sheet though for the cockpit.

2). Some big injection pins on parts to sand off.
