IDeuxF GB. 12/17 - 12/18

Put me down for a 1/72 Airfix Spit Mk. IX, Weizman's Black 57. The decals call for a Mk. VII, but the plane that survives is a Mk. IX.

I had a look in my stach and I have a 1/72 Italeri Mk9 Spitty aswell as IAF spare decals  so put me down for that please.

Hey Tony, I just had some IAF decals in the spares box from Academy T-6 so will be using those, nothing special ;-)

The Italeri kit is actually quite dissapointing, very little cockpit detail, shallow wheelwells and quite poor fit I read.

I know I have a Phew Phantom decal sheets and a spitfire that would fit in.

I'll join with either a 1/72 Italeri Magach 6 or Hobbyboss 1/72 Merkava Mk.IV.

I've got a Hobby Boss 1/72 Merkava IV that would work well for this.

Oh, same as MC lol! Looks like good detail for such a simple kit, and I could work some of my usual magic on it.

Got everything updated laat night.  Looks good.

Here we go.  The kit.  My workspace. My tools and my entertainment.  I roll down the windows to get crossflow and turn up the heat in the truck when I paint.  I sit in thebsleeper and direct the paint into the main cab.  There might be overspray but it wipes off with simple green and windex...not to mention its my truck so.......

That's awesome Fantacmet what do you drive? I drove for 5 1/2 years. My rigs were a Volvo 670, Peterbilt 387 and Freightliner Century. I drove all the lower 48 as well as some Canada. It's a very tough job and you have my respect and gratitude. Do you ever make it through Boise?

I purchased an 05 Century in 2010 and loved it although it was old and cost a lot to keep it going. I sold it in 2012 and have worked here in Boise ever since, Maybe you'll pass me on the highway tomorrow.

I just left the chrome shop. I got out with my skin.  Barely.  I did leave with a 12 inch shifter eztension and all the chrome sits on top.  Lol

LOL, I never had the money for chrome after an engine rebuild, turbo replacement and the constant need for tires on the rig and trailer.

This only set me back 63 bucks.  Being a 2016 its still under warranty. Plus I have the additional 2 year 200 thousand mile warranties.  Tires arent bad.  100% virgin rubber plus top of the line tires. 175 to 200 k miles on a set of tires.  Michelin X and Super X.

I assume you make it to Iowa80? I always loved that place and there's a truck stop in Salina KS, can't remember the name now, but has/had the greatest showers. Large rainheads and TV's in the mirrors.

I had good tires on the rig but I just could't keep them together on the trailer for some reason.

Furthest east Ive been is Wisconsin and while I did grt through Iowa it was a small portion of it up north.  I mostly run western half.  Little America has some killer showers even have giant fat guy tubs.  Real marble.  Scalding hot water.  Big shower heads.  Oh yeah.

Tires on our trailers are all brand new high end tires as well.  Philosophy is take care of your equipment itll take care of you.  It works.  The trailers have VERY little downtime.

Good on ya driver! My equipment, which also included a reefer, was older and therefore just ate me up keeping up with maintenance, but I never failed a level 1 inspection! Even those surprise level 2's the Highway Patrols like to pop on you and pull you over on the highway to do. My most miserable was a surprise level 3 during blowing winter conditions and -10 deg on Hwy 80 at night in Wyoming. The patrolman put me in the cramped cage in the backseat of his patrol vehicle and went through my logs (still had paper logs) and BOL. Passed again.

I should be able to get on the Merkava as soon as I settle in in Dallas. Really looking forward to it. 

I had a few minutes spare this morning so I started on the Italeri Mk9 spit. It ,sofar, has not impressed ma atall. The fit of the parts are not as good as I hae expected and rectifying it means either sanding all the detail off the bottom of the ailerons or filling and sanding the area ahead of them....not really somthing I want to do.

Ive never built an Italeri aircraft.  Only a Panzer IV which turned out great.  I built it for the Italeri GB many years back on here.

In answer to a question here is a photographic answer.

Italeri owerall is not to bad, did quite a few of them however this particular one is about one step way from being binned ....I value my sanity more than a 10$ kit!

Just like here in sourhern Africa that is "big sky" country :-)

As for the Spitfire, it is beeing binned, I will give it to the kids to practice painting and decals on, I will not be waisting anymore effore on this very poor quality kit.

The fit is so bad that loads of filler and sanding would be needed, then al the detail is lost....

I will see later on if the budget allows for another model for this GB..

Ta, I have been looking for a 1/72 Revell Merkeva but none of my local shops have stock, only the 1/72 Trumpeter one is available at about 2.5 times the price :-(
