Really nice, Doc. Great looking kit. PE enhances the details very well. Good work!
Thanks CK. I’m hoping to get some paint on her this week.

checkmateking02 docidle Thanks CK. I’m hoping to get some paint on her this week. Doc(Steve) That'll be great to see. What kind/color paint are you planning on?
Since this an early Elco 80’, I’m going to paint her with ColourCoats Tropical Green. I want to add some fading and weathering, etc... at least that’s the plan. I have some Model Master .50cal barrels with flash suppressors that I’m trying to get up the courage to install.
Doc
That sounds good, Doc. Tropical green is a pleasing color to the eye. I used it and MTB Green on the 1/700 scale PT's. It will look good on your bigger version, too.
CK,
WOW! And in 1/700 scale! Did you use an electron microscope to build them?! Those are impressive to say the least. It looks like you have two in Trop Green and one in ?
Thanks, Doc.
I used the Tropical Green for two of them, and MTB Green for one.
More gap work and scratch building. The forward windows of the chart house needed filling There was a large gap in front of the forward gun tub and minor gaps that need filling.
Sharp work, Steve. Nice, neat work!
I got the kit and signed up for this GB in February, and last night I started on it. Whew, what a lot of parts. Where to begin?
The fit on these Dragon kits is really superb. I used the Randolf kit as a base to build the Oriskany.
Test fitting the inner hull to see how much sub-assembly I plan to do before painting.
The Oriskany is one sharp looking ship. Excellent work!
Looking forward to following your build, since i have a Dragon "Atlanta" and a few destroyers.
Check, The Scharnhorst won 1st place at the Fort Worth IPMS SuperCon yesterday.
I brought 2 builds (1/35 Fieseler Storch the other....won second) and brought home 2 awards.
Now it's on its way to Boise to hopefully be taken to the Salt Lake show....then retired. A far better destiny than the 1/1 scale version.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Cheers Bish and Tony.
I got some work done on the Lex over the past week, but will be stoping for a while to focus on WW1 battleships.
Which kit is that Scott?
Its the Dragon 1/700 Lexington and its a really nice kit. I was told it was OOP but Scale Hobbiest had it in stock, so I got one.
Looks good, Scott! Good looking Lex!
great stuff guy's Im getting around to this B-24 painted deiceing boots started to mask small windows props are done I just cant stay focused on this thing.
Nick.
It's good to view your progress, Nick. Looks like you managed to merge the nose and the rest of the fuselage very well.
Good job!
CM thank you this kit has been a challenge.Im attacking this build a little different, but for now I preshaded the top with tamiya red brown then the underside neutral gray. I sprayed the top with a dusting of desert yellow Im thinking of blending in some other colors due to the dusty environment more to follow. I know I left the tank tracks in the pic thats for the 1944 GB king tiger lol...
I painted the underside with tamiya light seagray..
