Feeler for a British Flagged Ships GB

BTW, I added a little twist to the rules. Any war prize ships that were flew the Union Jack. That should open it up a little. If I missed anybody or their entry let me know on the official thread.

The Revell Bounty is a good model. It's a task to rig, but nothing like a clipper ship or a ship of the line.

Funny thing, I've got an old glue bomb someone else started of Scott's Discovery...

 

I agree with you 100% Bill, rigging the Bounty would be less than say the 1/100 Victory or the 1/96 Cutty Sark/Thermopylae!

Everytime I look at the Revell Bounty kit, I can’t help but think about the Professor. His build of the Bounty was outstanding to say the least. If I attempted it, I would try and sand down the hull and give plating it a try. Although at my pace.... it would probably be completed sometime in the 22nd Century!

I would really be interested in seeing how you would salvage the gluebomb, so I’m glad you’re going to join too.

Sounds great Jack, glad to have you aboard. Sounds like there may be a few (including mine) KGV class BB's....cool, I like it. I think this is going to be fun.

A wooden Golden Hind would take me a few years I think. I started my wood Victory over 2 years ago and it's still in the unplanked hull stage.

I'm interest too, and just checked my stash - all 1/700 and WW2:

Destroyers

- 'E' class, 'O' class, and Vampire class

Battleships

- Prince of Wales, Rodney, and Repulse

I've also the Tribal class destroyer Eskimo, but that is for another time as I want to dress it up for the Canadian Navy.  Also a Corvette, but same ideal.  Then there is the Golden Hind  wood kit ...

Sound great GM. I'll work on the official thread and get it up soon. I'm looking forward to the Discovery.

OK so set up the GB. I'm in. Note to you, I will finish Rose first, but in the given time frame can get the deconstruction done first.

I want to remember the Discovery kit has a set of dogs.

Once you get the GB up I'll post shots. It is a glue bomb I bought cheap.

Oh my Steve, it looks like you needed an excuse to build some of your British ships. The Hood, Repulse or Revenge sounds good.... maybe the Cutty Sark. I wouldn't be able to decide. Any would do just fine. Just curious, what scale are the warships?

 

 

The WW2 ships are all 1/350 except the X-Craft, which is 1/35

The sailing ships are for the most part the big ones, 1/96, 1/100 scales, although I have the Revell smaller versions too for some of them. I think I missed the HMS Bounty....

Anyway, put me down for the X-Craft and if I finsh her before the time limit I'll choose another one.

Both of the badges look great but if I have to choose one then the one with the lion.

Eagle, I was really getting into finding the flags and making them. I think I'm going to use both.

I think the badges are brilliant!  Either one would work for me.

I have a few ships that just might work. 

HMS Hood, HMS Roberts , HMS Lord Nelson, HMS Dreadnought, Prince of Wales, King George V, Repulse and a X-Craft

Also, in the stash are the Cutty Sark, Thermopylae, Victory, Mayflower, Golden Hind and Revenge.

Any requests?

Actually, I should probably do the X-Craft, I might be able to get her done by the end of this.....

This sounds interesting. I have never built a ship so can anybody recomend something? I would like something that would be, as far as scale and details go, more or less the equivalent of 1:35 in tanks or 1:48 in airplanes. I guess it would have to be a small boat, maybe a tug or a torpedo boat. Any recomendations?

Bruce, a wood deck will really look good on it.

I just purchsed a wood deck for the KGV, and I already have a PE set for it. And, oh yeah, I'm going to put it in the water... Hope to make it look half as good as your water scenes, Steve!

You know what i find funny. I have just hosted an RAF GB, now entering a British ships GB, and i spent 22 years in the army slating the bloody RAF and Navy.

The badges made me smile Steve. I have already made up a badge for a potential Airfix GB next year, 80th Anniversary, which also features a large Union Jack. Seems like its getting every where, i love it.
