Harold, geez, I dunno, after all you did promise me a Lancaster....

Just kidding, be really good to see the Spitfire!

Tony, the Kittyhawk is off to a racing start there, the resin seat looks good.

Thank you, Piers, I normally don't change my plans so much, but I have this cool new cockpit upgrade kit from Eduard and the decals for a RAAF Spitfire, plus I will have time between now and March.

I've just had a look at the completed models, they all look fantastic. I hope we can squeeze out a few more, as this is my favourite subject.

Cheers

I've got going on my P-40. The conversion basically involves changes to the wings so I've been able to do the fuselage without changing much. The cockpit is my version of Curtiss interior green, includes a resin seat.

Cheers

Getting into the Yellowjacket now

Started off with doing all the interior green everywhere.  After I read the Red Roo conversion instructions a bit better, worked out there is quite a bit of zinc chromate here and there.

I did read the bits about removing the doors behind the cockpit, the ammo buckets and the heating pipes. Painted the resin seats up, added some dials and placards around the cockpit from Mike Grant decals.

Next the floor was glued in. The target chute was cut to size and glued into the rear hatch, at the right angle. The hatch is no longer a hatch of course, it will be glued closed.

I have not scratchbuilt the winch motor etc inside as it will not be seen through the observer's blister.

Nick,

That is a very special result on the Spitfire, the paintwork is fantastic! Super shading and weathering, great rendition of Clive Caldwell's mount

Looks like the Eduard kits are pretty special, judging by the few I have seen come together, the level of detail is great.

Steve. Great job on the camo that metalic grey sheen you nailed it. Takes a car guy to get that semi gloss right.

Cbaltrin. thank you. its my 1st Eduards kit, went together well but lots of tiny parts.

Piers. the spitfire is done, thats for hosting a fun GB.

Steve,

Great work, the F-35 looks very cool and the stand makes it look fast too.

The grey paint is a wierd one in the real world with that metal look to it, like the F-22.

I will you get on the board

OK, Piers, I'm done!

Thanks for a cool GB. THis Hase kit was pretty good. One of there better 1/72 kits I'd say with nice decals and pretty decent detail.

Use whichever pic you want.

Wow, nice Spit!

Piers, I'm trying to get this done before the end of the year so I can have all my GB completed and off the bench.

Here is the F-35, the very one you have on the badge BTW. The Carcal Models decal sheet I have (and mose sources I saw) said to paint it FS36170 Have Glass Grey. It's a very odd grey, almost a metalic. Not sure I'm going to put the RAM tape decals on and looking at the actual squadron I'm portraying, it only shows the grey on the wings and tail. So, I guess that's what I'll, do even though the decal sheet doesn't show it.

Here it is with a black primer, The Have Glass Grey and then on the stand. I need to go back and add the FS36270 Neutral Grey to the wings and tail. I hope I dont peal any the the base grey off!

Ferg: Ahhhh, someone mentioned yellow jackets a couple years ago and Bish wasn't sure what we were talking about. Wasn't sure if they don't live outside North America or maybe they were just known by another name.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, very cool Piers!!! I'm assuming you're going with that awesome yellow and black target tug scheme?

Reminds me of a yellow jacket. I've heard they only live in North America, you guys have your own nasty critters but at least don't have to deal with these little SOBs.

Oh yes we do! We call them European Wasps. They started appearing in oz sometime in the 80's.

Tony, great to have you onboard mate. Love the Kittyhawk, very underrated compared to how important it was for the RAAF in both the Asian and African conflicts.

For my next build, it will be a Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter with the Red Roo TT 21 conversion kit. Should be a bit of fun.

Really nice Piers, but yours always are. Could I joing in please, I actually build a lot of RAAF aircraft. I have this thing, but the parts are off the sprue but unstarted. Would that be ok ? It would be my 11th RAAF 3 Sqn P-40. My plan is to convert it back to one of the very early P-40Ds, with only two guns per wing. The aircraft was flown by Nicky Barr, and the decals are from DK Decals.

Cheers

Thanks Nick and everyone, I was happy to have it finished and happy with the result.

Darren, I can understand you wanting to take your time with a super kit like that. Happy to accept the Catalina into the build roster.

Steve, Hmmm, yes the Sunderland did look like a handful. Looking forward to the F35
