John-barring a sudden burst of motivation, the Lotus isn't going to happen this go-round.  Sorry.  I was looking forward to getting it built.  Lots of great builds here though-detailing is fantastic.

Which leads me to a question for when I do get the Lotus started-who are good sources for the braided lines, fittings and clear fuel lines for 1/20 scale?

If you do start a 2023 F1 GB, I'll try to get involved.

Should be back to sniffing glue by early-mid May, though.

I really enjoyed the last one.  I have two 1/32 aircraft started and one has a deadline.  I would love to tackle another one but it's doubtful I could finish by season end.

Max was brilliant.  Already looking forward to 2023.  3 US Grand Prix (Miami, Austin, and Las Vegas) and an American driver at Williams.  Cant wait.

Best I can do from here on is cheer on the participants from the bleachers, and am eager to do so.

Bill, where did you go? It was your post/challenge last spring that finally got me moving in this GB. I didn't get finished in time, but I sure had fun getting as far along as I did.

As a reminder, this group build runs through March 20th 2023 so plenty of time.

I know, eh? Now that you mention it, the finish is ever so slightly rough, atypical for Stynylrez, and I hadn't made the connection back to the crazy high pressure, so thanks for that. We'll call that one mystery solved.

There's talk about fearless leader having another Formula GB next year, once he's all settled into his new home. Hope you keep it in mind.

After a week or so of paralysis by analysis, I finally got up the nerve to continue with the main part of the body, which you may recall I had already started by glueing on the intakes upside down.

Having never built a formula more modern than the Lotus 49, just getting it glued together proved more challenging than I'd expected, especially the rear spoiler.

Anyway, it's together and a I managed a coat of primer today. Certainly not ready for paint yet, but it's a start.

No need to comment, it's just a a primered body but progress pics help to prod myself forward.

On a side note, I used my fan pattern brush to prime and having not used it since last year I forgot the PSI is controlled by a second regulator down at the compressor. Sprayed the Stynylrez at a about 90 PSI!!! (I thought it was going through an awful lot of paint, and couldn't quite figure out why my booth was not exhuasting as per usual. Dad always used to tell me I could screw up a two car funeral.

That said, says something for the forgiving nature of the Stynylrez. Badger should use me in an ad.

Feeling a bit sheepish posting an update after Ben's finished pics. Hard act to follow.

I believe I've finally finished the rear end.

A special thank you to RealG re the fuel lines. I didn't even know what they were, let alone where to go to find the clear brown tubing. I honestly didn't plan to use them on this model, but I started messing around with the tubing and it fit so well and scale was so good before I know it I had them installed. Most odd for me, I'm more likely to ponder something new like that for days (or weeks).

 

Looking forward to seeing you work some magic on those tires.

With school stuff for the boy, my job and this house... Ill need longer than that. I typically get about 30-45 mins a night alone unbothered unless I want to stayup late. Plus, with the level yall are at I want to take my time.  But lets see how fast I can get this Rocket done. Im moving on to wiring up the leds so all I have is paint after that.

PROJECT510; thanks James, and that is exactly what I wanted to achieve; a little snap shot in time telling a story. 

GREG; I thought your comment about Step 6 was rather funny. They sure pack a lot of stuff in some steps and almost none in others. In comparison, now I'm building a 1/32 Arado Ar 196 seaplane for a GB and it has 16 pages of instructions covering 42 steps. As far as complexities with F1 exhaust, I normally find them with 60's and early 70's bundle of snakes type of exhaust, most anything by Tamiya in 1/20 is pretty safe. And using "brilliant" I'm not so sure it is all that. That is some nice work on the F1 plumbing, regardless of your experience with it. Your modeling skills continue to shine through my friend. Thanks for your positive ongoing remarks during the build to keep me motivated. I really enjoyed this GB and may be back for more after my current GB. 

JEATON01; Thank you very much, it has always been one of my favorite early Grand Prix cars. I was attracted by the rear engine and dual wheels for the period, but after researching the car, drivers, and achievements I was all in regardless of how much a challenge it was, thanks again.

REAL G; Danke', It will most likely be the last Revival I build. None the less, I'm glad that the build was enjoyed by my modeling brothers (and sisters). Buy the way, how is that Brabham coming along? That is another car in my stash so I am watching your build with great interest.

WPWAR11; I wish I had others to include in the Auto -re- Union photos. I thought it would bring a neat perspective. CMC is a high end die-cast manufacturer that has others close to scale, but the price is to rich for my blood. 

KEAVDOG; work of art? not too sure of that either. It seems modelers always know where the warts or ommissions are on each of their builds. For you to think that highly of it really humbles me. The first or last photo is fine with me.

Thanks again everyone for allowing me to participate in a wonderful and fun group build. I've already started another subject within another GB but hope to have time to get back into this one again with something else before it expires. Nice subject, nice modelers, good eye candy and motivation for all, what else could we ask for? Thanks again!

Runs from the start of the 2022 Formula One season in Bahrain March 20th 2022 through March 20th 2023.

January cant come soon enough. Im using every ounce of strength not starting my kit haha

Thanks for the info, James. I had looked again later at SpotModel, saw the brown tubing back in stock, and placed my first order with them. Mine shipped 9-8, let's try to remember to keep each other updated on delivery.

Greg, Because of the difficulty mentioned here, I ordeed 3 sets so I will have extra if any of us need it. But yea lets see what happens.

 

My order came in. If anyone were looking for this, I bought extra.
