Calling this one done.  Had a bunch of issues - mostly my fault plus some experiments that went south.  But thankyou so much secret santa I really appreciate the thoughtful gift.

She's a tail sitter ( again my fault ) hence the blob of clay under the tail.

She's up on the shelf with my trainer squadron

She turned out stunning and is a worthy addition to your collection. You really made this one look incredible, even with some hazards along the way. Well done and thank you for being a part of this great GB. I will update the front page.

Gear down and decals going on.  So many problems with this one I just want to get it finished and on the shelf.

That is such a cool looking jet. Looks like something out of a James Bond movie. Super nice work, even if it is fighting you. Well done!!!!

Great looking work, John. She looks like she's going mach 2 sitting still.

I'm finally feeling better after 3 months laid up. I am going to get back on the Mercedes very shortly. Can't wait to paint it.

Hi folks, sorry for my long abscence, but just when I thought I was getting a grip on things, everything went to hell. Until a few days ago I hadn't been near my bench for months.

John I love the the Polikarpov, awesome job mate.

Stu your P51 is outstanding. Top work fella.

A couple of pics to show where I'm at. The pit bits of the Zero have all been sprayed silver and coated with hairspray. Next step is to spray the cockpit colour and do some weathering. The Tiger needs some adjustment work on the tracks, some adittional bits added and then it's just about finishing the painting and weathering.

I wasn't really happy with the blue, but as no one will see it, I decided not to waste time re-doing it.

Dodgy

Those are both looking very nice. The camo looks excellent, can't wait to see the chipping with hairspray. Also, the Aotake looks very good. My understanding on it was that it was not too consistant across various manufacturers, so it looks great to me.

I have been super busy this year and also laid up for the last month. I have not been on the forums much and I haven't built at all in months. My back is bad atm and I can't sit for long, so forums and building have been sat aside. I hope to be back at it soon and get my gift completed. I really want to work on it, but like I said, pain stops me in my tracks. Keep all the great stuff coming guys, I really do like to see it come together.

Mach1

I've opened the Mig and have been making slow but steady progress. The plastic has great detail and the fit is fantastic. I am making the Czech scheme from the box art, but there are also markings for two Polish aircraft in a more standard camoflage.

Looks like a nice kit. Your pit looks really good. And slow progress is at least progress. The end result will be stunning for sure and we are all looking forward to seeing it. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks all!  For the weathering I've become addicted to the oilbrushers by AMMO.  They make all the difference.

Calling it done!  This was a fun build.  The Eduard kit is fantastic, with my only gripe being a seam on the nose that is near impossible to deal with and save the lovely rivet detail.  Thanks to my Santa for this one!

Wow Stu, you outdid yourself on this one. Super good looking 51. I've never built any Eduard kits, but I see and hear they are great. This one is excellent and your skills really sealed the deal. Well done.!!! Bow Down

More progress on the Hawk - some fit issues... will require a bit of filler but still fun.

Thanks,

John

Looks like you are making great progress there, John. The pit looks really nice and getting it closed up also makes things feel like you are moving right along.

Back on the Hawk

Super fun little kit so far.  Nice cockpit decals right out of the box.  Pin wash, some minor detailing and a flat coat over the decals

Thanks,

John

Thank you, guys! I'm glad you like it. And, yes, the version on skis would be nice, especially in a diorama. Big Smile

That is a nice project John.  No idea that plane even existed, but it makes for an interesting read.

Update: Decals and canopy on. Not calling her done quite yet, as I may put on some clear coats.

WOW!! That is really good looking. I was expecting a nice little build, but this blows me away. Incredible work. I want more.

Okay, here are the shots. The suspense is over! Neutral gray up top and a custom mixture of blue on the bottom.

Thanks, guys. I've got some more pics to share with the bird painted. Unfortunately, PostImages wasn't working this morning; so, I'll just have to try again. Only have to throw on the wheels, canopy, bombs, and decals now for my I-16 to be technically done.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Kinda like waiting for Christmas morning. Fits the theme here.
