Mad Robot Day!

Nice start, i-beam.

My daughter was helping me this morning on my Dougram. It was a bit slow going to start because I have no instruction sheet. Right now, the only thing I'm unsure about is the leg attachement to the hips -I'm not sure what the hip joint structure is. I'll have this assembled with the 24 hour span but maybe not painted.

I'll get a big chunk done tonight. Tomorrow I have some Valentine's duties.

Total building time so far: 1 hour 30 minutes.

I've had one of those good/bad days Good because I was working, bad because it wasn't on my model. I was all ready to go this morning. The phone rings at 9am with an emergency call from work (computer networking, the sky will fall if this isn't fixed RIGHT NOW) Well I do like money so I was busy with that all day till 7pm. No calls all week and then Saturday hits. Murphy is with me all the way on this one. I will have to go back to this customer tomorrow but I'll get some model hours in tonight.

It's now Sunday. I only got 6hrs model time in on my 24hr MRD. Wasn't happy with the porcelin filler, had to go back to bondo. All glued together though and ready for paint.

Ok, Here is my update (pics later).
Got back in town around 5pm Saturday. Took care of a few things around the house and managed to get started on the kit just before 7pm. Got most of the pieces together so now it is a matter of getting it painted. One problem. Still don't know what color(s) to do it in. For the build, I may just pick a tan or green and go for it. Got to get to bed.

So far I have put in 5 hour 30 minutes into my dougram. Constructionn wise, it's about 85% complete. I'll get it fully built before misnight tonight but not fully sanded and painted. I'll post what I have by midnight (EST) but will keep a running count of the building/finishing time as I continue to work towards getting it complete.

Good to hear your updates. Got my networking client almost squared away but they want me to do more now. Still managed to get about 5 hours in today on the model so I'm up to about 11 hours. Built most of the "factory". Here is my update pic

Here's my work so far. Only a total of 7 hours have been put into it so far. This weekend had a sleep over at our place for our kid's friends, a day trip for the family and a tired dad.

I tried to get the basic body construction done and figured I could still sand the seems even with the appendages glued on. Since I don't have the instructions there are a few small parts that I'm not quite sure where they go. I found an image on the net of an assemled kit and I've been using that as a guide. The kit is modeled in the two basic colors of the robot from as it appeared in it's series but I think I'll be painting it in a motr traditional camoflage scheme to lessen it's toy like appearence.

Once I get the seems sanded I'll start painting the body by brush (maybe I'll airbrush and undercoat first) and then I can add some elbow and shoulder protecting armor.

I woke up this morning to a stove that died while making breakfast. Spent much of the day out looking for a new one. By the time I got that installed my 24 hr period was pretty much up. Looked through my spray cans but don't have a good green. Pulled out some desert sand but really want a woodland type scheme so did a little putty work instead.

Making good progress Aurora-7 even when your still busy wth other stuff. Sorry to hear about the stove going out Philp, at least it wasn't the fridge (knock on wood).

Here is my latest progress. 3hrs paint prep and masking, 3hrs wrestling with the airbrush (the airbrush always wins ), 2.5hrs detail paint. Total so far - 19.5hrs



Still to go:
Valkyrie: decals, future, washes/drybrushing (optional), final satin spray finish
Factory: quick gray/blue airbrush layering, detail painting, decals, satin finish
I don't think I'm gonna make it [:0]

Yes i did notice that. I posted a question about it in the admin forum but no answer yet. I think it is becuase of the size. If you grab the url and look at them in a new window it is better. Just a link works too.

My pics get bigger (at least for me).

As for paint scheme, still not sure. I wanted to have it part of a scout team with 2-4 soldiers walking behind. The kit is 1/60th which would be perfect for some Warhammer 40k Cadians but when I compared the kit to a 25mm figure, it looks huge. These guys could run underneath and plant charges. So, then I was thinking of using 1/35th scale figs but don't have any futuristic ones. Decisions, decisions.

Hey Aurora-7 and Philp,
We should win an award for the GB with fewest participants, I don't really know if we want that award though, LOL!!! At least we did it even when our initiator skipped town on us (anybody heard from Model Museum??).

Here is my update: Went over the 24hrs. I have to really rethink these MAD builds if I join another one. Did a quick 2 pass overspraying on the "factory" and put decals/future/dulcote on the Valkyrie. It's still not done. Need some stripes on the missles, trinkets on the widgets, blah blah blah, .... LOL!! It's tough to finish a model.
