Hi Folks,
Here's a photo of my Hunter, paintwork to follow shortly. I'm not sure whether to spray gloss red, of flat red then gloss varnish later. I might go with the flat, I think.
Cheers
Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

QUOTE: outta curiosity, where about are the people here in Belgium located?

I wasn't a member at the time this post started, so, I hope I can be accounted as Belgian as well. I am Belgian (born and raised in Diest) but live in Holland now.
For the time being, I am just about to pick up the trade again. So, I don't expect to deliver A-class work at the time, since I am about to gather some more hardware (knife, files, etc...).
If, by any chance I would start building a Belgian plane, it would either be:
- A (Classic Airframe) 1/48th Hurricane Mk I with fabric wings, based at Schaffen 1939.
- A SV4b (1/48th or 1/72th resin) of the E.V.S. at Goetsenhoven
- A Marchetti SF260 (1/48th resin) of the E.V.S. at Goetsenhoven.
- A Belgian Spitfire Mk IX or MkXVI

Since I have never handled a resin kit before, it will not be very likely that I will build the SV or the Marchetti right away.

So, I cannot promise anything, but if one of these planes will be finished by next year, I'll post some pics of the progress and the end result anyway.

Speaking of gatekeepers, the most famous one is depicted in the first picture at the Belgian National Airport. The SV 4bis

The other one is his continuator, the SF260

BTW, I have never participated in a GB. What are the rules?

Cheers,

Luc

Hi guys. Checking in with some progress to report. I got the fuselage and wings assembled on the F-16 and then I remembered: I didn't take photos of the completed cockpit before I closed it up! Doh!Banged Head [banghead] I'll try to have pics in the next few days and hopefully the cockpit detail will be visible. Cheers

Hhmmm, ok that I didn't miss much...
Only for that Mig-29, I wanted to be there. Was it a static Mig-29 then?

Opposite in Hechtel, a lot of flying planes: F-16, Tornado, Spitfire, Gnat, stunting Boeing 737, Rockwell B-1 Lancer ....
Static a/c: Catalina, F-16, Augusta, Allouette II, Dutch SAR unit, Merlin Mk.3,...

Cheers,

Just got home from Koksijde, don't be disappointed you didn't get to go, you haven't missed much.
First disappointement (or however it's spelled) : NO patrols, not a single one, turns out all the acrobatic patrols are in Italy today to celebrate the XXth birthday of the Freche Tricolore.
Second and major disappointement, the Mig29 that was supposed to close the show wasn't 100% in order, so it didn't get permission to take off (well, in my book, a Mig29 at 50% still beats an F-16 that's 100% ok)

So, what did we get to see flying :

Fuga Magister
Gnat
F-16
Mirage 2000
Alluette II
some propeller planes of which I didn't get the name (those where some kind of patrol from Denmark)
Alpha Jet

On the parking lot, some more interesting stuff :
- Panavia Tornado (Luftwaffe)
- AH64 Apache (Koninklijke Luchtmacht)
- Alpha Jet (RAF)
- a UH60 Blackhawk for VIP transportation (got the pilot to explain the working of that weird disco ball thinghy on top of the fuselage)
- another Fuga
- Neptune
- Texan
- Atlantlantique
- F16 A and B
- Puma
- Seaking

Hhhhmmm, I think I won't get to Koksijde... (CRAP !!!!!)
Don't have enough time, and my mother told me I just went to an airshow (Hechtel), but I'm sure I'll go next year...

Jürgen

"but spends most of his time in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor fighting for the alliance"
"I'm expected to raid an enemy town in a couple of minutes..."
Would I be right in guessing that your WOW fan? couple guys I work with are addicts to this game and I thing one may even be in your guild

I get the usual models in my local shop on 50m from my front door, and my more "exotic" models I buy at Verschooten in Antwerp, just behind the Boerentoren in a street called Eiermarkt (Eggmarket).

BTW Jurgen, I don't seem to remember the e-mail you talked about in one of your previous posts, could have gone lost on one of the other computers using this connection (wife, kids...)

I ask because Im living outside Mons, ( La Louviere) and still having trouble finding decent hobby shops in my local area... infact the only one Ive been able to find so far has been one called Lepoint 50 ? in Brussels. Im thinking about jumping in on this build but the kit I want to use I was thinking about starting another group build with called "gate guards GB" where the model would be built to represent a gate guardian. I was going to build an
F-84F to represent the gate guard at Cheivers AB stand and all.

Well, Awood, as you live in Mons, and I in Vlaams-Brabant, I don't know many hobby shops in that area.
The only modelshop in Wallonïe I know is in Wavre. In the Rue chemains de fer.
In Leuven you have Christiaensen ( in the Bondegenotenlaan ), wich has lots of model kits !!!

Conctact me ( or e-mail ) when you need more info, I'll try to find more model shops in your area.

Cheers,

Jürgen

Big Smile [:D] I should check, but I may have some markings for one in 1/72 that came with one of my 1/72 kits.Wink [;)]

Ah, OK. I don't have that particular 1/72 Hasegawa kit. But there have been some 1/72 Belgian AF decal sheets made:

Hope this helps!Tongue [:P] - Calvin

Here's DACO's website:

It's a Belgian company, producing decals for Belgian a/c, PE parts, resin and home made airliners. Danny Coremans runs the shop, really friendly man....
