But if it's appropriate does it still have to be? Frankly I can understand why the last one was removed, but we've kept it completely clean here so does it matter if it's not related to modelling? Question [?]

And ryan, i believe the mods are keeping an eye on this thread by themselves, incidentally.

I'm STILL working on the resin pieces. Once I have them all cleaned up and ready progress will be much faster. (Alternately schools could be declared unconstitutional. That would speed progress up as well. Big Smile [:D]Tongue [:P]) I'm getting so much work from my teachers...

Being appropriate or inappropriate has little to do with it. The point that keeps getting lost is that this is a modeling forum, for people to discuss their interest in modeling. Even the Odd & Ends area is defined as "For discussions relating to modeling or forum membership without a home. " Again, the key part of that phrase being "relating to modeling."

A little idle chit-chat about other things is perfectly acceptable and important to building the sense of community we'd like to foster, but it is becoming all too common in this particular GB for modeling to become something other than the primary subject matter.

So, maximize the discussion about what everyone's building and working on, and minimize the discussion about everything else and we should be fine.

wowI come home from school to a mess. again.

I believe Ryan has no real business in here but whatever. We can always ignore him.

Michael, I understand this is not all modeling related but seriously come on! Many group builds "not naming any" from the past and present consisted of just goofing around and having fun with the progress reports coming in when there was some. Frankly Id find it a little boring if somebody continuosly just post
"well, I put on the landing gear and wings tonight."

Some group builds have a general comman, for example my pz II gb. It was easier for us to talk about the models because 4/5 of us were building the same kit. But this Group build is Completely different. This GB is for the people under 18 who like to model. The subjects are too broad for us to help most of the time.

I dunno, do what you have to. Thats just my My 2 cents [2c]

Smile [:)]

now away from that, time to go check the mail and see if my building arrived yet!

i have absolutely nothing to add about my build because i have had no time to build due to school. no one else has had any time to do anything either. no one therefore has anything to say that is modeling related. if this is what im supposed to talk about im afraid this will get pretty boring.

No progress for the last couple of days, had to work today and yesterday, making the bling bling though, at an alarming 5.50 an hour. once I can drive, going to work at Best Buy, at 7.77 an hour, then after a little 8.00 then 8.50
I need to post a pic of my new mouse (computer), its insane, you dont move it, only the ball. its huge too

I've decided to take another shot of my almost finished turret. Thank you mike, I'm in the process of getting "Demon Days" on my computer
since I'm posting anyways, heres my mouse, and to tell the size, its the same size as your hand, since it is "ergonamic"
someone left it at my dads work (for DHS) and I asked him about it

My grandma has one, I hate that thing. Its all quirked so that the slightest touch moves it across the whole screen. Although I like to take the ball out and roll it around. Big Smile [:D]

Perhaps we haven’t been clear enough about what the definition of a group build is. We provided the group build area for members to get together to build specific subjects, share their experience as they build, and help each other out as they progress through the build. We may allow for a little leeway as far as the common theme to the build goes, but very few in this group seem to be finding the time to build anything at all, so this group is essentially using the GB as a chat room. If there is no common theme or time for anyone to build, I’m afraid there’s really no need for the group build.

Well, the basis behind this GB was to get us young guys who are into the hobby together and maybe attract more young folks to building. And there has been a lot of bulding going on. Matt posted pics of his bunker, reb has posted pics of his build I've posted pics of my scratchbuilt glacis plate and many others here who i've forgotten at the moment. So we're building and talking. Works out well for all involved. Smile [:)]

and reb, let's TANGO. Wink [;)]

Tank,

Getting more young people involved and interested is wonderful and certainly something we encourage. However, if we were seeing more building and less discussion about ipods, favorite bands, computer mouses, the girl at the bus stop, etc then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

There was a recent post in this thread that essentially said, "I don't have time to build. No one has time to build, so we're just coming here to talk." Just glancing over the previous 3-4 pages of this thread, less than 1/2 of the posts were related to building anything. That's what we will not allow to continue.

You can count me in for a 1/72 Revell Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc
It's a desert Hurri...
I was working on the cockpit recentely, sanded off the bulkhead, that doesn't exists in the real thing, etc... Will post some progress pics (if the teachers give me some TIME !!!)
It will be my first AB job, so I could use all the advice I get...

Cheers,

Jürgen

i agree with reb. its time to just drop it. as my stuff, the veneer is coming along. only a last little piece to add. ill have to even it out, and fill the gaps with wood finish filler. other little works to be finished as well.

thats awesome fletcher, thats a lot of money in plastic. but it will last you a while
had hockey today, and tomorrow, and back to school night tomorrow and combine that with my insane algebra2/trig teacher and it gives you no time for model building. But now I am doing homework, or supposed to be doing homework
