What a great subject for a GB.  If it's not too late, I'd like to join in.  I'll attempt to build the Arado E.555 by Revell.

I like the badge, I say we keep it. Also, 2000-redrider, no, it's not too late for you to join in the fun. I'll add you to the list!

I've never even heard of that aircraft. I did a Google search for it, but nothing relevant came up. Was it something that Germany was working on in the late war period?

A quick progress report on my 1/72 Revell Ar 234C:  I have almost completed the scribing on the fuselage and wings and so glued the wings in place.  The payload and nose section are just dry fitted but it looked so cool I just had to take a picture.  I am going to take a break for a couple of weeks and concentrate on my Sunderland for the Candian GB to try and get that off the desk as it takes up so much space.  Then I can go at this full throtle. Big Smile [:D]

Uh... Cockpit?  This kit provided a seat, pilot and a tiny instrument panel that attaches to the canopy... that's it... not even a control stick! Shock [:O]  I have some references so will try to flush it out some but I have never done much scratch building before.  Why can't these companies ever get it right.  I just built a Revell Ag 262 that had beautiful interior detail but a canopy that was opaque at best.  This kit has a beautifully clear canopy but no interior detail. Banged Head [banghead]

well cockpits are best place to start scratch building.....you could make a seat harness from tape and a contol stick from spurl and maybe some other detail like wires hydraulic pipes and contol rods on walls etc from some wire. It must be nice to build a model not starting with cockpit ...lol

Ya, it's a little different alright not starting with the cockpit.  I have some leftover PE seat belts and even some foot peddles which will be pretty visible in this aircraft and I have an extra seat to replace the awful kit one so all I really have to do is add some details to the sides and back wall of the pit area and of course the control sitck.

I guess Luft '46 isn't the most popular topic here. We need to spread the word about this GB!

I don't think its the subject matter its just that there are so many GB on the go right now. I should be finishing one project this weekend and then one more quick one before I turn my attention back to my Ar 234. I had 3 projects going for awhile there and just got too bogged down so I'm tackling them one at a time. The one I'm finishing up is an Airfix Sunderland kit that has taken forever so I'm looking forward to finishing it up this weekend and moving on.

Just wanted to let you all know that the Ar 234 is coming along nicely and is in the home stretch. I will try to get some pics up when I get to work on Monday (Can't post them from my ancient Mac at home). I decided to do something a little different with the paint Heh heh!!!

As promised here is a photo of the Ar 234 C that I am working on.  It is the old 1/72 Revell kit which I have since learned is a rebox of the even older frog kit.  I've rescribed the panel lines, stole some parts from the spares box for the interior and have generally put a lot more work into it than I had intended to. Anyway I wanted to have fun with this so I deceded to do something a little different with the paint scheme.  I have now put on a coat of future and hope to get the decals on tonight.

This doesn't really count as being in the Luft '46 GB, but I'm working on converting the old Monogram Invader UFO to the proposed (or just plain made up) Nazi UFO made mention around the web.

Going to do it in Artic colours, as the Nazis supposedly went south to hide out and start the 4th reich.

In any case, I'm a huge Luft '46 fan, I just can't find the model of my favourite plane.

Cheers!

Well I managed to finish off my Revell 1/72 Ar 234C build this weekend so here it is.  The paint job was inspired by the fact that I had bought a bottle of RLM 78 paint instead of RLM 76 (my eyes aren't what they used to be) and the fact that I wanted to practice my mottle technique for an upcoming Itlaian build.  Anyway, lots of scratch building, raiding of the spare parts bin, some PE and lots of sanding, filing to get parts to look to scale.  Hope you enjoy!

This is my mythical Nazi UFO.

It's based on the image located here:

http://www.zamandayolculuk.com/cetinbal/haunebuantartica2.GIF

The Monogram Invader UFO, on which it's based, doesn't have much detail (in fact, it's all on the underside) and I wanted to do....more with the kit, but other things (family, more job responsibility) gets in the way of my grand idea for this, so for now, here it is in all it's simple glory.

If you feel it's a worthy addition to the GB, I'll add the badge to my profile. If you don't, don't worry about it, this was a last minute bit of whimsy on my part.

Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words.

The Splinter camo was my 1st attempt with Tamiya masking tape. I didn't like it much, the tape didn't stick very well, and paint had a nasty habit of oozing under the take, thus messing up the clean lines.

All the same, it was fun to do. If no one objects then, I'll add the Luft '46 GB icon to my sig.

Cheers!

Thanks Razordws. I found the kit on eBay. I thought it was a fun build, it only has about 30 parts, and only four of them are for the cockpit. However, the decals were horrible, so I had to buy aftermarket German insignia. Also, the area where the canopy meets the fuselage and the area where the vertical stabilizer meets the tail needed putty. Other than those minor things, I would say that it's a very nice kit. In fact, I think it's the only 1/72 scale Ta-183 out there.
