Hey djmodels1999-

I share your feelings. The Lindberg kit I'm building has (had) a seat- no pilot.

'Course, I went insane and bought a resin cockpit for it with more parts than the kit itself. And most of the PE parts are smaller than i can see.

Now I'm thinking..... "Hmmmmm..... it has no engine either..."

LOL

Not as bad as I was thinking, thats one thick windscreen. I have seen the pilot before oh yeah he pilots every Airfix kit. Good luck with the kitCool [8D]

Well there you go:  the magnificent Airfix Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-6 in all its (early) glory..

Look at that nasty locator pin inside the windscreen...  I did not remember that one!!  And look at the beautifuly furnished inside of the fuselage.  Airfix provides a 'seat' and a 'pilot'.  That's it!

Fun, fun, fun...

At last, I got my kit.  I'll post a pic later.  I was kind of surprised, to be honest.  It's not Hasegawa, for sure, but I did remember those Airfix rivets being bigger...  The plastic is not sky blue anymore, but light grey.  The cockpit details are basic to say the least, but I have some references to help along.  The kit comes with two rather boring colour schemes, and I've found another that is way more entertaining.  The kit decals are really poor, off centered (if you can say that for crosses!), and there's no svastika of course.  The spare decal box should come in handy!

I'm 37 and have been modelling for around 30 years now.

I have struck a snag in my build, I opened the AIRFIX kit up to discover that the clear sprue is missing. I have sent an email to AIRFIX so hopefully I should receive one in the near future.

39 going on....... I guess the rest depends on the day and how I feel. :-)

Modeled for most of my youth, then cars, college, army and family took over. Finally decided I needed a hobby..... been back into it since February.

As for me 17, will be 18 in October. I feel old when I can say I remember when Tamiya tanks were 15 dollers for the big onesTongue [:P] And now they are close to 60 dollers.

Work has been progressing on my Mustang. I will probably be able to get the fuselage together in the next building session...Unless I decide to scratch build a cockpit. We will see how I feel when I get to that point Big Smile [:D] Most of the small items are painted and ready to go.

JWB. I love the badge. I have a wooden Strombecker DC-3 hanging up. I found it at a train show if I remember correctly. When I investigated it, it looks like the kit was from the 50's. It was painted silver at one point but now it has a lovely OD green patena to it.

It's a B-24. The original image is larger and clearer. I cropped it a little, too.

I thought it was just so cool because it looked so vintage.

"Look Wally, I got this swell airplane." 'That's great Beav!"

LOL

It's actually part of an ad for a StromBecKer B-24J from an ad in a November 1945 women's magazine. You can see it if you scroll almost to the bottom of this page here. In fact, that page probably has a dozen images that scream "badge". I just thought that one was cool because of the kid with the airplane, the shape (square, basically) and just kind of struck a chord with me.

I think its a B-24 or Halifax.I zoomed in to the pic and they both have the same tails. I was going to say Short Sterling but the wings are to big.

I think there is a total of 12 parts in my Testor's  kit.  Quite a difference compared to the 1/700 Trumpeter Lexington that has over 300.

Frogfoot, my history class was canceled for today...

So...I got to work on my P-51 for a bit. It is progressing nicely. I am painting/ finishing all the small parts, Landing gear, pilot, cockpit, etc). There are only 28 parts in the kit, so it isnt too tough.

Hi Joe and welcome aboard.  I remember that P-51 very well too.  Built it around 1977 or so...

David, you are making great progress!  I'm still waiting for the delivery of my 109...

Here is my before shot. Not all the parts are pictured, but you get the idea. Off to the right I included thee horizontal stabilizers from my first kit, and the display stand base. I know the rest of the plane is around somewhere, I saw it recently, just cant find it now, lol.

This is a great idea for a Group Build, the P51B is the kit I remember as my first, somehwere around '75.  Have one as well...but I can't enter, I gave that kit to my 7 year old son.  He has put together about 90% of it on his own and entered into the Allied Aces GB with it.

I will certainly drop in from time to time here...by the way, Jon..I had the same T'bolt and tried to paint a checkerboard on the front.  Like the one in the Time_Life book "Air War Over Europe"...WOW was that a pig's breakfast!

I started my P-47 last night. I ordered a resin interior for it. It won't be visible once I close it up, but it'll add fun to the build.

I'm also looking for display boxes to set everything up in for the final display.
