Hey guys, I've been way too busy the past couple of months (home remodeling... sigh... what a pain in the a**).  Anyway, I don't think I'm going to be able to get the Semovente finished by the end of the month as what little modeling time I am getting lately is going to go into my Spitfire for the Battle of Britain GB that wraps up at the end of the month.  I've learned some valuable lessons about over commiting and that life is just too busy!!! Plus it's not fair to everyone else for me to keep sliding in at the very end or after the finish line, so I'm clearing my plate so I can participate while a GB is really kicking, instead of after most people are long since done.

Hi, You never responded to my request to join, and its been a few days. so I was wondering if this thread is kind of being forgotten or what?  Anyways, Im getting pretty far on my Panzer II (almost done) and decided to post some pics.  I plan to add some stowage and other bits of gear to cover up certain low detail spots.  The kit flew ogether, one night to build, and I stayed up late last night painting, so overall its been two days since I received it in the mail.  Please add me to the list if your interested in another member!  i also added one picture of it in a diorama I am working on, which shows some US infantry ambushing the crew as they take some photographs, if you dont think that has any relevance here, just tell me and ill get rid of the picture

Hey, hope Im not too late to join!  I have a Panzerkampfwagen II (1/35 Tamiya) in the mail, and if it arrives in the next week or so, I should be able to finish it in time, if not, well Ill just show my progress up until then.  Please add me!

Hi,  I just finished my Hetzer for the Italeri Group build.  Looks like there's still one month to go on this GB and I would like to try to start and finish a light armor piece for this group build.  I have a Tamiya 1/35 M8 Howitzer that ought to fit this category.  Not a huge kit so I think I should be able to complete it in a month Smile [:)].

Thanks for your consideration.

Tony,

The Daimler looks pretty good so far.

Progress has been slow on the Hotchkiss in the last couple of weeks, too much other stuff going on lately, but I have managed to finish painting the hull and assembling the gun.  The indy links look pretty intimidating too, they look like they'll take a while to complete.  I'll try to post some progress photos in the next few days.

Yeah, I closed the lid on mine cause it just seemed like too much work. Good luck with your kit.

Looks great.  Good luck with it.  I'm about to build the Maquette "Lince".  The Tamiya kit is a good one, but at shows (mine was OOB), the judges mocked the interior.  Boo with critical judges.  :)

I reckon that Tiger is 1/16. Just kidding. Interesting little tank though, looking forward to see it progress.

Hi folks,

I'm probably going to do the tank on the box cover.  The GF liked the heart scheme, so I'll roll with it.

Here's some construction update pics:

Hull mostly done

Tiny parts!!!

I think this tank definitely qualifies as light armor:

I'll try to post more updates as construction progresses.

Gday,
It's that old Tamiya kit. I think the molds date back to the industrial revolution.

Sorry for the absense folks.....

To Tony and Jeff......The Daimler and Hotchkisswill both make perfect additions to this build.

Welcome aboard.

Tony...Whats the manufacturer on the Daimler, so I can add it to the front page.

Looking forward to seeing some shots.

Thanks Jeff, answers a few questions, it's hard edged, seemingly random, I wonder if they were applied in different positions on different vehicles ? I am going for the black on green as per this vehicle.
Are you doing the H-39 in French, German or perhaps Italian markings ?
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome Tony.

I started working on the H-39 last night, its gonna be fun, but wow, lots of tiny parts.  Something like 550 pieces for a tank that's about 2"x4".  I got a lot done though, and will post some progress pics later this week.

BTW, here's some references for the Mickey Mouse Daimler scheme(sorry, no wartime shots):

G'Day Jeff,
Nice to have you here.
I'm planning to do the so called 'Mickey Mouse' scheme on my Daimler Armoured Car. Has anyone seen any photos of this scheme ?
Thanks
Tony

Hi Everyone,
Actually I'll do a 1/35 Daimler Armored Car for this GB if that's OK. it's about 2/3 built, with the completion of the build and painting and finishing to go. Let me know if it's OK, cause I'd like to get cracking whilst I'm keen.
Cheers

Hi,
I was thinking of joining this one. Possible entries are one of, Bradley, Warrior MCV or  Sd. Kfz. 234/3 'Stummel' armoured car.
Do any of these qualify as 'light armor' ?
BTW, they're 1/72.
Cheers

thanks Yann as for the rear I haven't finished up back there I have a bit of stowage and tools going back there so I figured I would see how they were going to be positioned before monkeying around with the rear too much the good thing about using watercolors is that until you seal it it remains workableWink [;)]

Superb little Stuart Panzerwulff.  I particularly like the mantlet.  One comment tough, the black wash at the back looks like ... well a wash.  It would have been more realistic to blend it with adjacent paint.  Other than that, its a wonderfull model.  Drybrushing looks easy for you man. Great job!

No matter where you go ....... there you are.

PanzerWulf.....

Just noticed i had not commented on your photos.

I have to agree, i also like the dark colors for the M3.  The interior and basket look cool too. Looking forward to seeing it with the wash......er washed off  as it were. :)

Rooster...

i'll be interested to see what you find out on the barrel length.  I'm betting your Aluminum barrel is more accurate than my old Tamiya kit barrel.  :)

I just compared the Tamiya gun to the AFV gun, and there is a difference.  It appears to be 1/4" longer than the Tamiya barrel, and my Tamiya barrel hasn't been mounted yet, so the difference is roughly 3/8".  Now you've got me interested.  I'll have to compare the tanks to the book.

Good eye.

Grant......

Oh, I'm not professing any expert knowledge here.  I'm totally clueless as to the proper barrel length on an M41.

I suppose maybe the photo just looks that way to my eyes.

Maybe I should have said "it looks longer than the barrel on my kit"  (which is argueably much less accurate)  <grin>

Secondly for Rooster,

The Bulldog is looking sweet sir.  You can already tell the differences between your detailed kit, and my poor Tamiya version.  Thats gonna be a sweetheart when done.

(One question....the aluminum barrel looks a bit too long in the photos....is that just my eyes playing tricks on me?)

I'll measure it and check it against my references.

That would suck if it were too big.

On the plus side, the aluminum is so polished that the superglue cannot grip onto it.  I can probably remove it and cut it down a bit.

Thanks Yann the references I have show the USMC Stuarts olive drab to be a little darker and slightly greener than the olive used on ETO Stuarts. The marine vehicles also seemed to have more dark staining arounf the bolts and rivets, but I figure it was due to the wetter tropical climate. Glad you like itBig Smile [:D]
