I might redo the exhaust streaks with pastel chalks (they were originally done with watercolors and don't look too good. ), if I can find a cheap set. The cockpit is from the P-400, which also had a couple little bits added last night. It's been mostly sidelined for the moment, though, because I really wanted to get started on my italeri Lysander, which will have a completely scratched interior, and may take awhile. I might be able to get some more done on the P-400 this week though.

I got my new Hase P-400 last night at the hobby shop and started work on it tonight and come to find out that the Blackbox cockpit was cause of the horrible fit of the canopy. They give you replacement cockpit walls and due to the P-39 having such a tight fit, the cockpit sides pushed the sides out. I had to chop up the cockpit walls on the Blackbox kit and sand down the IP so it would fit alright. I'm back pretty much to where I was a couple days ago...have the fuselage glued together and the wings assembled, so I'll prob wind up joining them tomorrow night and getting prepped for paint.

Im here, however I must anounce that the Gulf Coast office is moving. So I might be off the forums for a few days. Im only moving 2 miles but the cool thing is my new address is on Veterans Memorial Parkway. Also there will be no progress on the p 39 for a week or so.

Ed I keep hearing this song in my head " East bound and down loaded up and truckn........" I also keep having visions of a black Trans Am and a big Rig with a painted scene of a stagecoach on the side.........strange. I am also having the urge to go buy a Jerry Reed album.

I purchased the Academy P39N/Q 'Russian aces' in 1/72 scale today as it was going cheap in a shop so this will now be my entry. i made a start and here are some photos:

Holy cow, Ollie...what camo scheme did you paint that workbench?

By the way,. which Russian Ace's plane are you building?

 Camo scheme is called 'to many models as a kid'. Its all paint from modelling as a kid. Things like putting lids down the right way up on the bench, knocking pots over etc.

Im not sure what ace, the kit offers two options. Major sultan Amet-Khan and Captain G.A, Rechkalov. They both take my fancy.

Woo-Hoo! Finshed. I even managed to pull off the two part aerial...a first for me.

Well, here she is folks, in Bud Anderson's "Old Crow" markings. Once again the Eduard kikt packaged by Accurate Miniatures. I thought I did a decent job fittingt he canopy, but not even the pictures can hide the poor fit of the left door. All in all a fun build. I'll definately attempt another P-39 or maybe even a P-400 or P-63. This GB definatly has provided enough inspiration for that.

My personal highlights in this build were my first minor attempts at scratchbuilding, if it can even be called that. I added the two radio wires, and drilled out the nose gun's shield, inserting another drilled out cannon inside. Ooooh!

I like it. The canopy appears to fit the same as mine does. I might try drilling out the cannon as well. Overall it looks like a great build. I hope mine turns out this well.

Ohh make sure you get those newsletters out by Feb 25th.

I actualy build on a sheet of white paper. Makes it so much easier to find parts.

Its no fun having no money, moneys rather tight for myself right now and i was lucky i came across my kit cheap.

John aka Ogrejohn has offered to send me a 1/72 P-39 for this GB.
