Looking forward to the Sea Hawk Alain.  A very good choice.

The Holidays LOL.  Nothing but more Honey Do's for me Tongue [:P].  We haven't had much snow yet, but it's been unseasonably cold in these parts.  Only 9 degrees F this am when I took the dog for her morning walk.

Regards,  Rick

Thanks Rick.  Been hard lately finding time to work on her as work is getting VERY busy for the holidays and we have had a lot of snow thats needs to be shoveled.

I managed to do a little bit o' work this weekend on my Mk.I in between the rum and crumpets!  I just about have the office finished, with just a little bit of fiddling left to make sure everything lines up.  I thought about adding some extra detail, but figured that with the hood closed and the pilot strapped in, you probably wouldn't see it anyway.  Here's how she looks:

Dave,

Nice job with the scrounging.  One thing I really like about a lack of available references is that if you can't find a photo to prove how it does look, chances are good that others won't have a photo to prove how it doesn't look.  Keep up the good work, glad to see you're making progress!

Lookin good, Dave! Question; That round thing just forward of the pilots instrument panel. What is it? From my first impression, i wonder if it would even be visible after you put the halves together.

And don't worry about the interruptions here. Seems like it's just commercials at the moment anywaysTongue [:P]

Warmest regards,

Roger

Ooops... I actually have some progress pics, sorry for the interuption.Ashamed [*^_^*]

This is what came with the kit.  Basically two seats a stick and an i.p. (not in photo)

My references were a bit bare but based on other build ups I've seen on line and what I had available in the spares box this is what I came up with.

I have now closed it up and will add the wings shortly.

You may now resume normal programing of this GB.

Or worse, you could develop an overwhelming desire to stop whatever you are doing in the middle of the afternoon and have some tea! Wink [;)]

Roger-that's not the 'new plane' smell so much as the air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror....whch, btw, went flying across the room as I was getting ready to install....it was one of those builds....

Well ya know, adding the air freshener can always be pretty labor intensive!

But i think it would actually be fun to fashion one and add it to a build! Ya know, just for a goof....Propeller [8-]

Yes, she is a keeper!  SHe figured that anyone who saw that photo would never connect her to it if they saw her in real life!

Frank now that I have seen your better half I can get an idea of what the kids will look like.  I suspect the visor will be smaller but will grow with the childLaugh [(-D]  Mr. and Mrs. Optivisor (the kid will very well be picked on at school for having BIG eyes)Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Very well done on the cat, Bob! She looks shinier than a new penny and and sexier than a playboy bunny! She looks like she is off the assembly line and i can almost smell the "new car" scent off of her!Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Nam!

Mine is made from galvanised steel ( I think!)  I got it new from an Ebay seller's store for about 200 bucks shipped.

I was searching paint booth prices.....couldn't find anything like yours. Do you mind telling the cost? It appears to be stainless steel, which would jack up the price.

I would have to give up modeling were it not for my trusty Optivisors.  I have 2, a #5 for close work & a #7 for really close work.

Thanks a LOT, Nam! Black Eye [B)]

Just kidding!  As for the paint booth, it is a Paasche brand booth but all it really is is sheet metal with a filter in it and a fan box on the back.  I bet you could make one for a lot less than I paid for it! Banged Head [banghead]

Hey Frank.....the paint booth in the background.....did you make that?

It just occurred to me (like a brick falling on my head)....I build sheet metal ductwork as part of my living and make fittings and boxes that size and larger.

I could build a disassembled booth, supply explosion-proof fan and a housing for it.....add a lighting fixture or customize to accept whatever lighting....even the exhaust hose....metal or plastic.........anyway I could build one in an afternoon or less. Ship it unassembled with easy assembly instructions.

I know right now I will be building my own!

Could there be a cottage industry for this?
