Wow!  Sounds ambitious!  I can't wait to see how these come along.  As for the roundels, I wouldn't want to ask you to pay for the shipping on those, and I found that set of FAA Corsair decals from Techmod at an online hobby store I have used before, Meteor Productions.  Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost me to have those roundels shipped to me?  Tongue [:P]

Don't be daft Frank, it would'nt cost you anything!Thumbs Up [tup] If you want 'em just pm me your address.Wink [;)]

Darren,

I have had a look at the Lynx kit and I like it! It looks much better than I expected, and I am quite tempted to start playing with right awayTongue [:P] Its not big on detail, but it looks the part.

Still, I have to get my F-14 off the bench first.........Big Smile [:D]Pirate [oX)]

Cool, thanks again!  I pulled the kit out last night to look at the wingtips, should be an easy conversion.  I also bought my Ultracast seat with belts today, so I am ready when the build starts.  Cool [8D]

Bob, no worries mate but it's actually Darren's (Tango1's) build, I just happened to start this thread sort of my mistake.

Hi darren

I have an Airfix 1/48 Seafire 47 I'd like to contribute - the timeframe would suit me just right as well. I'm going to do it with the Aires resin c-pit but can't make my mind up about the wingfolds yet!

Darren-

Have you ever ordered from Hannants before?  I am thinking about getting one of Special Hobby's 1/48 Super Corsairs (to go along with the one I am going to do here) to build over in the civilian GB.  Thought it might be fun to do two Corsairs at once.  The only place I can find one is at Hannants, but have never ordered from an overseas (to me) company before.  Just wondering if you have ever worked with them.

Frank,

I order from Hannants all the time and can certainly recommend them.Thumbs Up [tup] They send everything by Royal Mail parcels and everything is packed securely.

If you give them a try I think you will be pleased. Wink [;)]

I'm still considering starting with a US plane used by FAA, the sky / dark sea gray sceme is going to require me to break out the airbrush and I'm not sure how that will go (I'm not that proficient with it), the US planes offer the all blue option. If I start with one of the 3 I got it will probably be the Swordfish, not only is it cheap it offeres several alternate paint schemes. I really want the Gannett and Wyvern to come out nice so I will probably hold off on them until I am pretty confident I can do them right.

Just looking in the box both the Gannett and Wyvern look pretty nice, crisp detail, clear "glass" parts, everything individually bagged and instructions that actually look like they make sense. I got the 1/72 scale kits but I understand the 1/48 are about the same just a little more detail.

I have read a couple of reviews of the Trumpeter Gannet kit and it looks to be very nice indeed.  If you were to combine it with Pavla's resin interior set and perhaps CMR's wing fold set and you would have yourself a real show winner.

I also found out the other day that Trumpeter is releasing a new Sea Fury FB. Mk.11 sometime this year, which is great because the Special Hobby Sea Fury kit I'm working on at the moment is a little on the rough side.

Cheers

A new Sea Fury? Any idea which scale it will be in? If its in 1/48 I want one!Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]

I have heard that the Hobbycraft kit is not the best, but for the minute its the best game in town, I'm sure a little TLC will do the trick. Good luck with it.Thumbs Up [tup]

Well you are leaving out the skill to make it a show winner Big Smile [:D]  I wonder when the Aftermarket will start selling that, because I'll by a couple boxes of it.

A Sea Fury would be great, I hope Trumpeter follows the path they did with the Gannett and Wyvern doing both 1/72 and 1/48.

Yeah, that would be great! I have read in the UK modelling press that there is rumour of a Gannet in 1/48. If that's right-I'll be first in line to buy one!Tongue [:P]

Aaron the new Trumpeter Sea Fury FB. Mk.11 is in 1/72 which is not my preferred scale but beggars can't be choosers.

Here is an interesting web site that may be of some assistance:

http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Welcome.htm

Also, does anyone have a link to the conversion instructions to convert a F3F-3 Wildcat to a Marlet, Mk. II, III or IV?

Thanks

Bob to convert a Wildcat into either a Martlet II or IV the best base model to use is the F4F-4, for the Martlet I & III models the best base is the F4F-3.

The only difference between a Martlet I and a Martlet III was that Martlet I was the designation given to aircraft that were meant to go to the French and Martlet III was the designation given to aircraft that were supposed to go to the Greeks.  Neither made it of course due to the German invasion of those countries and the aircraft were turned over to the Brits.

As to what's needed for the conversions themselves, you an have inbound PM

Cheers
