I really haven't done much on my Corsair lately,  re-doing my Zero seems to have turned into a priority.

Frank, Mike,

you are too kind! Thanks lads for your kind words, it means a lot.Thumbs Up [tup]

I did a bit more work to my Lynx and the Corsair tonight, they are coming along nicely. I have nearly finished touching up the paintwork on the Corsair's camo and have finally hung the doors on the Lynx, so hopefully I'll have another one done soon.

Hey Darren! That looks awesome, buddy! I really like the way you're displaying it, too. The base and the addition of the pilot figure really add some perspective to it and give it a very realistic appearance. This one was definitely worth waiting for! Thumbs Up [tup] Congrats on a job well-done!

Woohoo!  Glad to see that one finished.  I was really hoping you would stick with her and not give up.  I really like those invasion stripes, really spiff up the plane! Pirate [oX)] Make a Toast [#toast]

Hey Crew!

Hope everyone is OK out there. Well, after a bit of a struggle here's my first completed model for the Fleet Air Arm Group Build.

Its a Hellcat Mk.I 800 Sqn FAA. It was based aboard HMS Emperor during 1944. The kit is from Airfix and while the kit itself is a bit basic, its builds up pretty well. I had tons of problems with the canopy and decals so I just tried to make the best of it.Blush [:I]

Iv`e been using maskol with acrylics for some time now, and have never had any trouble regarding the paint lifting. So I can attest it`s working like a charm

Thanks for all your kind words and support fella'sThumbs Up [tup] Glad you approve of the Corsair.

Darren,

The mask I use is called Maskol and its made by Humbrol, it dries into a bright coloured latex film and is brilliant for camo patterns. I've used it on enamels and never had a problem. I recon it would be OK with acrylics too.  I thought of using it when I could'nt get a nice edge on my camo paint jobs. With the liquid mask I just mark out the pattern lightly in pencil then brush on the liquid mask-its so easy! I would certainly recommend giving it a go.

Hey there Darren, Your Corsair is looking very nice indeed, tell me what made you think of using liquid mask for the camo?  It's not a bad idea at all actually but I would be scared witless that the masking fluid would react with the paint, has this ever happened?

Cheers

Darren, the Corsair is looking good.  Can't wait to see the finished product.  I'm using the Techmode 1/72 decals also.  I sooooooooooooo can not wait to get started.

Chin up Mate!  Sometimes those planes that need the most work turn out to be diamonds in the rough!  Keep at 'er, it'll turn out!  In the meantime, have a mug o' rum, you'll feel better! Make a Toast [#toast] Pirate [oX)]

This is a sorry state of affairs..........Disapprove [V]

Still, chin up chaps! I managed to escape for a short time to the secret workshop and got a few things done.

Hellcat: I am not happy with this one at all.........I took my mask off the canopy and half the Censored [censored]Banged Head [banghead] paint came off!Grumpy [|(] This will take some more time to sort out. To be honest, its not one of my better efforts. Still, I will endevour to make the best of it.Blush [:I]

Lynx: I have been painting the tiny 1/72 doors and adjusting the rear landing gear as the model was sitting a little nose heavy. Waiting for paint to dry on this one.....Whistling [:-^]

Corsair: I got the camo liquid mask on this morning and have left it to dry, I'll shoot the EDS Grey on after I'm done here. Here's a couple of pics, the second is my choice of markings, this is from the Techmod decal sheet, it took me ages to make up my mind which version I would build.....I have now decided that eventually I will build all three, but this one is going to be the first.

Unfortunately same goes for me.  Couple that with a couple of very heavy weeks at work and I'm not making much progress on anything at the moment.

My only advance is that I managed to give the Barracuda an undercoat. Unfortunatly my wife has the rest of the weekend programmed for me  so no more modelling this weekend. Sad [:(]
