Right!

Lads, let's keep this ship in tip-top shape while the Cap'n away.  For that, there will be EXTRA rum rations for all!

That is all...

Mischief [:-,] That's right!  Well, since it IS Friday in some parts of the world, the FIRST round of rations shall be distributed now!

Roy-

Here is some info on Corsair colors for you.  I will pull down the Corsair book I have later and see what it says specifically for FAA birds.  Meanwhile, here's the page I have for you:

Corsair colors

Gents,

I am off for the next four days (some of my last until after Christmas!) so will be putting in lots of time at the bench.  I will also do my best to keep a weather eye on the FAAGB!  Tomorrow, I am heading out to hang with the F-16 pilots of the 176th FS, 115 FW here in Madison.  I'll take lots of pics, promise! Thumbs Up [tup]

Wow, what a day!  I spent the afternoon with the CO of the 176th FS playing around with their F-16's.  He let me take all the photos I wanted, and even let me crawl up the ladder to peek into the cockpit while he seated himself and proceeded to show me how to fly one!  WHile I was there, they had a practice intercept scramble  so the base was closed up and the two fully-armed alert aircraft stormed skyward with me standing there gasping in amazement.  It was truly AWESOME!!!

The squadron is heading to Iraq in the next month, and it was so nice for them to take the time to babysit me during their busy day while I happily snapped photo after photo.  Thanks to "Ace" and "Lurch" for your hospitality, I'll never forget it!

Up close and personal:

One of the jets:

Notice the Green Bay Packers sticker on the wheel hub, it's gotta be a Wisconsin jet!

A photo of me with one of the planes:

One of the "alert" aircraft streaking skyward.  With the windchill, it was -5 degrees but you could feel the heat from this thing hundreds of yards away!

All in all, i have to say that it looked like an awesome visit!!! I mean, how often is it that a civilian with a camera is allowed anywhere near the flightline when they have a practice intercept? Not often, i'm sure. But it sure looks like a great day, despite the cold. And i'm happy for ya!

Oh, and concerning the Green Bay sticker on a Wisconsin aircraft?!?!?!? If there was ever such a thing as being "too appropriate", i think that would be it!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

And if you haven't noticed, i've got cause for celebration here! For here lies my 1,000th post in the Forums!!!!!!!Party [party]

Now where can i find todays rum ration here........Wink [;)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Like Darren, i've got military duties this weekend. But i'll still be around some. But because of that, this will be my date for the weekend:

Ok, so maybe not that exact one, but ya get the idea...

Ya know looking at those pictures again Frank, something else seemed to catch my eye here. I do believe that this is the first mug shot of yours i'd seen yet and it's very familiar to me! When i was stationed at Ft. Bragg in the late 90's, there was a guys in my platoon that was from Wisconsin (so he was a very devout "cheesehead") and i swear he looked just like you with blonde hair. His name is James Lawerence. I don't suppose there is any relation, is there?

Silly question, i know. But i just had to ask...Pirate [oX)]

Roger-

Don't get caught trying to smuggle those extra rations on board your helicopter!  Could land you in the brig mighty quick!

As for the mug shot, The man you are referring to (James Lawrence) is actually me.  That was my name long ago before I got mixed up with the mafia and recruited as a hit man.  After the trials, Witness Relocation gave me a new identity and here I am today.  OK, I just made all of that up but it sounded good!  Better lay off the rum, I guess... Dunce [D)]

In reality, I don't recognize that name, so I don't think there is any relation.  I had posted a different mugshot of myself way back in the beginning of this thread, and believe it or not I was standing next to an F-16 in that one too!

I'm the short one on the right, just in case you were wondering! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

After much shopping....much!....I've purchased the Tamiya 1/48 Fairey Swordfish....and the Roden Sea Glad in 1/48.....neither seem to represented yet and I want to compare for....well, you know.....been away for a bit.

Working very slowly on a P-35 to get the feel back...but I used to be quite good with bipes in the pre-PE days.

Still waiting on some online supply orders....but plenty of time, I believe. Cannot believe what you can learn here if you care to search and read.

Have a side project offering help to someone you all know over in 'Scratchbuild'....will keep me busy while things in the GB gel.

I'll post the P-35 progress over in a/c by next weekend.

Thanks for all your input and help......now I must 'model'

 see u in a while

Thanks guys. Figured i would share that with y'all!Make a Toast [#toast]

Say Nam, concerning one of your new acquisitions there. I've never heard of Roden up until recently (when it was discussed in another thread) but it seems i hear that name a little more and more. What's your impression with Roden? And how does it compare with the other kits from Tamya, Hasegawa, Revell, etc? I'm curious....

Warmest regards,

Roger

Hey Desi....

I didn't mean to mislead anyone....I purchased the kits last night online....the Roden is shipping USPS Pri Mail so I should have it Wednesday latest. I am kinda blessed (or damned, depending on how you see it)...with a great memory and built tons of Hase, Mono, Revell and Tam kits so I will have an opinion for you.

But I do believe you will get a reply here from one of this sick bunch about Roden kits. I've never seen one, myself. I'll be looking for a reply to your inquiry.

As for the Roden kits, I have one of their 1/72 WWI kits.  Have not built it yet, but it looks to be a nice little kit.  I believe I read some where that some of their decals can be quite thick and difficult to settle down.  Here's some links to a couple of reviews on the Roden Sea Gladiator and the Gladiator:

I have always liked the lines of the Gladiator, and really wish I had picked one up at my LHS when they had it a while back.

....Hahaha....Thumbs Up [tup]....I got a little bit damaged later on....after 'modeling'....as it were.

I am trying to be disciplined about spending to get back into this hobby. My VA pension goes in the bank at the end of each month and temptation is great to just 'get' everything I want.....but I was responsible last night....which is why I joined the party late.Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]Whistling [:-^]

The only Roden kit I have was given to me, (thanks again my friend) and what I can tell it looks pretty good.  It's a WWI Albatros.
