Years ago when I was in a model club in California, they would do a theme for each month's meeting. Something like "the 1950's" or "WW2" etc that wasn't genre specific. Then someone came up with the idea for "snaptite night" and it was a huge hit! Everyone bought one of those cheap little snaptight kits, and I think the biggest rule was no aftermarket parts or stickers. It was fun and everyone got to "go back to their roots" while also getting a bit of a good laugh. I think this GB is a very similar and great idea, I may have to find me a nice cheapo model here :-D

kustommodeler1,

I like the idea, I guess I am one of few who don't own an airbrush. I just saw your post...I have a half finished Italeri's Puma in 1:35.  Any chance I join with it? If not, that's OK, I'll then join when I get something new.

Cheers...

I do a lot of my stuff with a brush too. About the only models I regularly paint with a spray can are cars. I do have an air brush (I've had it about 10 years) but never have really gotten the hang of it.

These were painted with a brush.

I would potentially be interested in a brush only GB.

OK folks, the Corsair is finished, here she is. All colors brushed, freehand, no masking. Cake" /> The decals in this Revell re-issue Monogram kit are awesome too. They are very high quality. You can clearly read every stencil.

Come on folks, ready for stress relief? Just grab one and smear some paint!! Sure takes the edge off. This one helped me. Now I can tackle the 1/500 photoetch on my Revell Saratoga!!

Wow! Your finish looks like glass, impressive indeed. I agree 100% that everyone should drop the airbrush for a build now and then to 'get back to basics' and relearn forgotten skills. The girl friends kid and I are building a Panzer IV, well he is and I am just helping him along. Its his first build and I would like him to complete it with a brush so he can appreciate the basics before breaking out sprays. Maybe I will enter him in this GB, I can't as my NMF P-51 is somewhere 1/2 complete and needs a big effort to finish by the deadline of May 1st. With the contest season soon upon us I would like to enter it in a few as well.

Thanks Suppressionfire for bringing this one back up. I had almost forgotten about it, and gave it  up for dead. Anyone can still join it's end date is NEVER!!

The original rules on page 1 still stand, with even the scale request removed. The only requirement is FUN!! ----build whatever you wish- car, ship, plane, train, sci-fi, you name it.

Just remember- no PE or bmf...Whistling

For everyone who posted since I last did, those are some good looking builds!!!! Keep them coming

Wow. It's been almost 3 years...

I might just enter this with my DH Mosquito NF MkII, give me an excuse to actually finish it. Ive decided to go gear up since the gear in the kit are so utterly rubbish. Just gotta work out some way to mount it on a stand.

Saw this thread last week and thought hmm sounds good but I didn't have anything I wanted to sacrifice incase I have issues. Took the kids into a toy shop last friday and they were selling off a bunch of kits that had been lost in their storage basement (some looked lost for 20+ years), so I picked up a 1/72 Italeri F-4S for $10 that I thought great fun this build, cant get to building right away but in 3 or 4 weeks I'll post some WiP shots

I think I may join this group build. I have 3 in the works, so it'll be a while before I can get started (hey, the deadline is never, so I can participate and build as I please)

Let's see now: I don't have any kits I can do for now, but I may be able to go to Michaels (since I have a 50% off cupon) and get the Revell/Monogram 1/32 scale MACK pumper, as well as a Testors 1/72 scale F-4U Corsair of my own.

Yep, I guess go ahead and sign me up. No garuntee on an end dateBig SmileSmile Burger

Oh, by the way:

I have really never used brushes that much for any more than small (I mean, small) details, leaving almost everything else to spray cans ever since I started building (as long as I could remember)

Would that be O.K., or is it 100% brush painting?
