Thanks, I thought so too Smile [:)] No, not yet! I'll try to finish a F-16 until the 15th if possible, then I think I'm ready to go. Don't ever take on too many GBs Smile [:)]

Well I tried to start my Bf 110 a few days ago but found that the fusalage was very badly warped so I reboxed it up for future building when I know what I am doing.

Here is the cockpit that I started and the warped fusalage.

The cockpit looks nice! It's a pity that the fuselage is warped. I've encountered that too, but mainly on old Airfix kits.

Yeti,

Wow, that's some significant warpage.  Might want to try running some hot water over it while carefully bending it back into correct shape.  I've heard others have had success with that method.

Howdy! After lots of wishy-washiness, and quite a bit of dithering, I've decided on a kit.  If it's alright with y'all, I'd like to do an AMTech Ta 183 as a Nachtjager version.  If this isn't okay, since it wasn't operational, let me know.  Thanks, and keep building!

Alrighty, its official...I'm doing a what-if Ta 183 Nachtjager, from the AMTech kit.

According to the Tamiya website, its going to be re-released again soon.  So, if you want one, get your grubby little paws on it while you can! Smile [:)]

I'll start work on it probably around the new year, as I have some things to take care of, but never fear, it will be here.  Smile [:)]

How'd the hot water work?  Are you back in business?

well I have not tried the hot water yet, I have been very busy.  School ans sports take up a lot of time.  I might get to it this weekend but I am watching the state cross country meet tomarrow, and I have a race on sunday. Oh well maby next weekend, we have a long weekend.

thanks for the heads up on the Ta 183, I found it from tower hobbies, its a bit expensive though.

Ok, now I got the pics I need (I think :) )
I think I can use a drill and perhaps a nipper or something to cut away the marked area.

The new wheels are nice compared to the kit wheels :)

But they also create some problems. First I need to cut away the marked area to replace it with PE, and I guess I'll have to modify the part with the wheel shaft somehow, to make it fit to the new wheel. I'm aware of that the wheels ain't made for this kit, but I like them and want to use them.

The next problem is this lid on the fuselage. Is this modification applyable on the B version too?

And if so, how do I know how thick those plastic pieces are supposed to be, or do I just make a guess?

On these instructions for the interior there are two pieces of plastic (the arrow points to one) that I don't know the measures of either.

I guess that was all for now :) Hope that those questions aren't too stupid, but I never done this kind of modifications before and feel a bit insecure about how to do thing properly.

Well, I got some more done since yesterday :)

I got the wheel wells cut out. Used the tip of a PE saw and drew it back and fort along the edge inside the bay until it came loose. Turned out nice I think!

I also cut out the holes for the emty shell outlets (I think it is)

And here's a pic on some of the PE parts I've been working with. Folding seat and interior parts, as well as fitting the insides of the covers. Nothing glued yet, and some parts will be soldered first.

Now, I'll continue working! :)

Been working a little more on the main gear.

And with the wheel.

I'm thinking using the PE too, gluing it outside the scissor links, and maybe thin them down some more. Also I'm thinking of removing what's left of that rim between the gear leg and the wheel shaft.

I've been doing some more work with the covers too, but no pics yet.

How do I know "exactly" where the cover to the radio compartment should be? The instructions isn't that precise :)

Thanks Jeff!

Being more or less the first time with PE, I'm kind of doing that too! Smile [:)]

Hi,

Is it too late to get onboard with this group build?  It finally gives me an excuse to buy the Tamiya HE-219 I have been looking at for the past couple months now Big Smile [:D]

Well I got the primary assembly done, there will be a lot of filling to do, even more then I had on my PM Ju 88.  there are some nasty wrinkles in the plastic on the upper fusalage.  I will try to post some pics this weekend.  It would appear that on this project I will have to make my first attempt at rescribling panel lines, how should I go about doing this?

Hey Yeti, I recently had to figure out how to do some rescribing...check out this thread, it should tell you everything you need to know.  If you have any questions, just ask.  Hope this helps!

Thanks Cardshark!

That thread sure was interesting! A little more work perhaps, but it looks like it's worth the effort.

Finally completed my contribution to this GB.  This is a Bf-109D of the 11.(Nacht)/JG2 based at Oslo, Norway in 1940.  This was a very early night fighter unit tasked with intercepting British night raiders.  Unfortunately, my reference has no indication whether they had any success.  Kit is an Academy boxing of the Hobbycraft 109D and was built out of the box with the exception of the exhaust glare shields that were unique to the nightfighter 109D squadrons.  I scratch built them out of plastic card stock.  Sorry for not posting in-progress build pics.  I took some, but none turned out.  Still learning photography as well as modeling techniques.Smile [:)]

That one turned out real nice!

Nice to see a Norwegian based too! Taking good pics takes some practice, and these looks very nice.

Started on my 219 finally!!! I have been busy with work and family!! Unfortunately, I no longer have my digital camera as I gave it to my sister. I am hoping to do around the world trip later this year, and try to go to DC and see the 219 again, this time assembelled.
