As promised here is my draft idea for the badge. Let me know what you think. I have to clean up around the CFAB but wanted to get your ideas first.

Give me your ideas. If we don't like it I will just move on to building!!!!

Let me know

OK...Here is the touched up badge. Hopefully this works for everyone!

Heavy - I'll cut a deal...you do the M43, I'll give the M56 Atomic Annie a try (at least the gun, it's not quite Dora but it is a busy kit). I'll e-mail some details.

Any comments are welcome.

My M109A6 is just waiting for the paint job.  Since I started this kit prior to this GB, I'll also build another artillery piece during this period.

Well, I've never joined a group build before. I have this kit of a German 10.5cm L.F.H. 18(M) field gun I bought probably back in the late 80s. It's a Hinchliffe metal kit. Looks to be a so so kit as far as assembly and detail. There is no scale indicated on the box or instructions but it looks close to being 1/35. I guess I'm in if it's OK. Be warned my lack of skills and my pestering questions might get on a few nerves. Still OK to join?

Steelrudi,

I can't wait either.  Since my M109A6 is pretty much done, I'll have to figure out what I'm going to build in November.  I have 155mm and 105mm U.S. howitzers (Testor and Italeri kits) that I am dying to build.  Also have Dragon's MLRS that I'm planning to build also.  Can't wait!

Staten Island?

I used to commute to Staten Island 3 times a month from Northport for about a year.  That was a hike.  Kenny, I hope you and your family like the new setting.  YEs, I have volunteered you just like the good ole' Army way.  Stop by more often!

OK...After further review...I am going to stay with my original idea, the M115 8 inch. I am getting into finishing the prime mover, the M4 HST which is a rework of a Nitto kit. By hopefully 11/1 I will be getting into the M115. IF I finish early Whistling [:-^] I will attack the M56 Atomic Annie.

With the holidays and some buisness trips I know that are coming, I would like to finish the M115. The M56 is not Dora but there is a LOT of work on that one.

So count me in on the M115.(at a minimum) Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Thanks

Roger that RedLeg12.

Kenny, are you commuting from S.I. to Astoria/L.I.C.? That's a killer commute.

Guntech: good to hear that you are doing well.

Terry: Did you decide which kit you want to build?

Out of curiousity, has anyone ever been interested in building a model of Gerald Bull's final Project Babylon Supergun prototype, which I believe was horizontal and had a barrel length of 176 meters. At 1:35 that would be 5 meters, kind of big.

At 1:72 it would be half that, could be crewed by available figures, and might be worth a go.

Your thoughts?

Bondoman,

I personally don't know anything about that product.  It seems like it is one big bad Whooping gun.

It seems to be there is some confusion in regard to Artillery GB project.

Back in July of this year, Southern Dragon proposed Artillery GB, but for some reason, it just faded away.  I wanted to participated in this project, so it was revived in late September.

Keep in mind that when I revived it, I didn't mean to start totally separate GB, but just wanted to get it going again.  There is only ONE Artillery GB and Southern Dragon said he will take over the responsibility of keeping this GB moving.  Yes, we are still on and according to him, this project has already begun, so you can start building your artillery/SPG/SP Howitzers/Anti-tank guns/AAA guns at any time.

Good luck and good building!

Kenny,

Travelling through BQE or Belt PKWY always have been a nightmare for me.  Those were the only two choices I had when I was commuting to S.I.

I got my Big trumpeter Grille thingy yesterday, but the item I'm working on will cause some stirrings. What I'm saying is that when the group build starts on the 1st of november I will post a WIP thread.  I don't really mean to be secretive but whats being built is really the most oddball.

I haven't gotten a lot done but I have managed to get the barrel and slide assembly done. It is kind of different working with this metal kit. I still have flash and mold parting lines to deal with.

Yeah, I know the picture quality leaves a lot to be desired. Down and dirty cheap digi camera that gives me fits.

Sorry just seen the reply (its wednesday) and I'm lazy about checking in. Looking at computer screens all day just is not an incentive to getting home and doing it all over again. But alas not going to be a big air cannon thingy.

Terry.

P.s. I might end up getting shot out of one of those cannons(are the real, never seen one, or a circus for that matter), but the subject has been discussed with Mr. Hilary Doyle and it kinda has the possibility of a green light.

I'd like in on this GB if it's not too late. Just ordered a 1/35 AVF Club german 10.5cm leFH 18 Field Howitzer. Thought it would be a nice change of pace from my usual subjects, and this would be a great place to learn how to do it right.

You're going to love that little gem of a kit!      I built mine for the Kursk GB and was amazed with it.    Be carefull with the tiny brittle parts though.

Gun Tech, thank you for the heads-up on my entry. This will be my first ever artillery piece (I'm glad I made a good choice!), so I plan on taking my time with it and asking the masters here a lot of questions. It's quite a bit different from the winged subjects I'm used to building. Wink [;)]

Alright, alright, I'll do it! I'm to my eyeballs in builds right now, but I want to scratch something in 1/72 anyway, so I'll do it. Let me search around on the net and see what I can find. Do ship mounted weapons count, if they are "stand alone" models? As opposed to mounted on a ship.

Hi AJB93,

Ship mounted artillery should qualify for this GB (as long as you are not building the entire ship and building the gun system alone). Welcome aboard!

Hey guys,

I don't mean to hijack this GB from the originator of artillery GB, but it seems like some of questions have not been answered for days, so I'm answering and updating this GB thread as best way as I can for the time being.  Again, my intention was only to revive Artillery GB, not trying to take over or duplicate GB.

Any questions, concerns or requests, please feel free to post up or PM me.

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend.

I'll probably be doing a USN 4"/50 in 1/72, scratchbuilt, I might change though. I'll let y'all know soon enough.

Ok, I'm doing a US Navy 4 inch/50 naval gun, of the type mounted on flush deck destroyers and submarines. Pic here

I'll be scratchbuilding in 1/72 scale, using plans found online. This should be fun, but please forgive me if I get terminology wrong and such, I'm really a ship builder!

My AFV Club LeFH18M showed up at my door yesterday. Man, what a sweet-looking kit! Some of the attachment points look a bit heavy just as Gun-Tech pointed out they would be, but the moldings are crisp & clean and the level of detail is simply astounding! I'll be taking my time on this guy, being it's my first AFV Club kit as well as my first artillery piece.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the build of that kit.  Make sure you post up some pictures of your progress.

Armornut,

I may have to send the GB cop to your house to inspect your progress!  Enjoy your build and when you do get an opportunity to post up pictures, please do so.  Just enjoy the build and have that steak and beer for me!Dinner [dinner]

As for me, I will have to take a little break from building.  My wife is about to give a birth to our first child any day now, so I'm just waiting for the arrival of new one into our family.

Thanks guys.

Due date was on 27 October, but this baby has not shown any sign of wanting to come out to this world.  So I'm just waiting and waiting and waiting.

I also have to take some pictures of my builds and post them up as well.  Hopefully I can get a few shots of my work and post them up in near future.

I'm just glad to see that we have many people participating this GB and hope that we can all finish what we started.

Enjoy your day guys!

Hey guys...Just thought I would check in. I have not started yet. I still have the M4-18 ton tractor on the bench ~95% finished. Waiting for one last item them final finish and weathering. Also working on the Moderen Armor GB with an M925 and M10 Ammo trailer.

So the old work bench is full at the moment but I hope to be on the M115 by NLT Thanksgiving.

I'll keep my retical on things here until then.

M1.....

Well do you have a new clip yet Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]. Hope all is well. Trust me, it's only just beginning. Let us know when you can so we can all say Sign - Welcome [#welcome].

As far as the GB goes, I've really been enjoyng this AFV Club kit! Got a few of the sub-assemblies together, like the gun barrel/brake/breech, and the carriage (some tricky seams on that guy for sure!). I'll have some pics up soon.

ok, looking at my British 6 pounder it looks to be a very fast build {very few parts} cleaning up the men is going to take longer than the gun itself.

SOOOOO, what would normally pull the 6 pounder? Jeep, univeral carrier? I am thinking of combining this build with the North Africa build and add the tow vehicle in a diorama. I am thinking of the 6 pounder, the tow vehicle and a Honey in a ambush settting, or maybe the tow vehicle and gun in an at rest.

Guess that means I need to get started on my PaK43, huh? Big Smile [:D]

Actually, I'm very much looking forward to it. I think I might start it next, as soon as my Tiger is done. This is going to be my first Verlinden complete kit, after so many years of using their AM stuff. Wish me luck - and if you haven't heard from me by this time next week, send in the Marines...

Not much done on mine but heres what I got so far.

I can't say if I like these metal kits or not at this point. The detail isn't terrible, not great either.

Yeah, still got that crappy camera. Might be the user also!

If it would fit in I think I'd prefer to do a Soviet Katyusha rocket launcher, I found a 1/35 Italeri BM13 in my stash. I had a look at the Bison and I just can't face individual link tracks at the moment.

Oh and congratulations on the addition, is it safe to assume he will be called M1 Carbine? Smile [:)]

Thanks all! Being a father (especially a new one) is one of the greatest and proudest moment that I've ever had in my life.

Jmart, I moved most of my model kits and supplies to my old work space (my parents basement) and I put about 30 minutes to an hour every week just to get a little daddy alone time.  I hope I don't have to take 20 year break because I just returned from 15 year break.

Kenny,

Thanks!  Just like your son, I hope my girl would get involve in model building.  By the way, you said you are in Maspeth Queens for your work right?  I'm in that area every other week.  Hope we can bump into each other one day.

I am almost done with my Paladin kit (just waiting to be painted) and started 1/72 hasegawa 88mm FLAK gun.  I promise I'll get some photos posted soon.

Best regards,

Charlie

I just got hold of the old Hasegawa 1:72 155mm Long Tom.

Crude and probably inaccurate but still looks sort of like the real thing. Would that qualify at all, especially from this armour novice?

Mike,

I have built the same kit back in mid 1980s and the quality/fit is really good.  I don't know about the accuracy since I'm just a casual builder.  But you will enjoy building that piece.  I have started building 1/72 hasegawa 88mm FLAK gun and so far I have not run into any fitting or quality issue.  Enjoy it and I'll update the list to include you as a participant.  By the way, Hasegawa also makes 1/72 Tractor kit (I believe it was used for artillery towing) as well and you may want to consider including it with your build.

Thanks for joining (sorry, I have habit of volunteering people)!

O.K., I guess I am oficially in now.  I started on a 1/35 Airmodel M198 Howitzer last night.  I'll post some pics as it comes along.

By the way, Hasegawa also makes 1/72 Tractor kit (I believe it was used for artillery towing) as well and you may want to consider including it with your build.

Not sure which tractor they make, but the 155mm M1 Long Tom Howitzer was pulled by a Mack NO 7-ton truck, not an artillery tractor.

As reported above, I started on the Airmodel M198 155mm Towed Howitzer a few days ago.  It is an all-resin kit with a turned aluminum barrel.  The pieces are molded nicely and had almost no air bubbles.  The few that were there were easy to fill.  The details are great.  I had to replace a few pieces with wire or plastic rod and sheet due to breakage, but it was minimal.  It went together really well wit no issues.  I have left most of the movable parts movable by pinning them.  This way it can be displayed in either the towed position or firing position.  I plan on displaying it with a still-to-be built M923A2 5-ton truck as its prime mover.  I'm not sure if it will be a Army or USMC piece yet.

Here are the major parts.

Barrel and cradle assembly.

Nicely reproduced muzzle brake.

Breech end.

More pics here.

More to come later as it progresses.  Thanks for looking.

About a third of the way along construction wise now and the fit is good, but all the parts have mould part lines and some ejector marks. Nothing serious but still requiring the kit to be cleaned up part by part.

I replaced the barrel by like diametre brass tube as the original moulded parrel was ovoid in shape and had nasty part lines. It was easier to cut a length of tube and bore out the breach area to accept it.

At this stage I will display it alone, just deployed.

cheers

Gino,

Looks like you are off to a good start!  Glad to see pictures of your work!

Madmike,

That Hasegawa kit is at least 20 + years and I think only manufacturer producing that kit in 1/72 scale.  For an old kit, it's not a bad kit to build.  I would love to see the modification you've done to this kit.

A simple modification really, but it does add a great deal to the overall look.

Madmike,

That barrel looks good.  Did you say you used a tube that was in similar size to the kit?  That just look amazaing.  I'm also doing 1/72 Hasegawa 88mm German gun and was an easy build.  I need to paint it and then work on a diorama.  Once again, sorry about the photo quality.

Certainly did. I found a good walk around on the 'net, plus my reference materials indicated the 155mm barrel is essentially a straight tube. Luckily I had some brass tubing of the correct outer diametre which was simply cut to the right length and inserted into the breech/lower barrel which I had drilled out.

The only complicated bit was to make sure it aligned correctly.

Your 88mm gun looks fantastic. I might look for one of those myself.

cheers

Mike,

That Hasegawa 88mm FLAK was very easy to build.  Took me overall, 1 1/2 work hours to build it. Biggest challenge was to sand down mold lines and drilling a hole on the barrel.  Other than that, this kit was very pleasant to build.  Back in mid 1980's in Korea, there was a Korean company that manufactured all Hasegawa 1/72 kits on their own label and only costed me $0.40 each.  I must had most of the collection at that time.  I'm actually collecting those old Hasegawa (and ESCI/ERTL) 1/72 kits again.  Those were the kits I built as a young boy and would love to go back to that memory lane again.

I have a few Hase kits now. Just picked another Hasegawa M4A3E8 Sherman and free Hetzer kit on eBay. I built the old Hase Thunderbolt about 5 months ago and although not truly 1:72 (more like 1:60) it does built well and does look good once done (tracks are a major pain!).

I am collecting the old Matchbox 1:76 Armour. I have most of their aircraft now and have started collecting the old armour kits I used to build as a knee high. I try to get a couple of each subject so I can build one of each subject and have an unbuilt one to keep.

Regarding the 155mm Long Tom. Got the black primer on the barrel/breech now and all looks rather good. It took me an hour last night to clean up the wheels.

cheers

Update and a question for the light-fighters out there:

I have added a bunch of smaller fittings and pieces that were missing from the kit.  These include small bump-stops on the trails where they connect with the cradle, strengthening wedges on gun crutch, a locking mechanism under the barrel, various bolts here and there, a recoil shock under the cradle and a few other pieces.

I am currently working on plumbing the gun. I have added the hoses to the gauges on the right trail and brakes lines up front. I am not clear on the other hoses and cables on the trails. From what I remember and photos, it has two air lines (?) coming out of the outside right trail where there is a rectangular plate. On the left trail, there is one brake light cable (?) coming from about half-way down the inside of the trail where there is another rectangular plate. Does that sound right?

More pics to come soon.

Mike,

Can't wait to see your work!  I haven't done anything lately.  Only thing I built lately was a baby stroller.  This was challenging since the instruction was in like 5 languages and just bad directions.

I should be done with my paladin as well (I only have to install wheels, tracks and paint it).

Happy holidays my friend!

Looking forward to seeing the big Paladin. I had one of those once in the stash but gave it to a 1:35 scale modeller some time back. Should look great once done.

Best wishes over the festive season

Mike,

You are really pounding away with your build!  That just looks good.  Which color did you use for that silver/metal color on recoil rods? I will be posting up some photos of my work soon.  Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Best regards,

Charlie

P.S. By the way, I just made myself a toast with Vegimite spread on it with light butter. YUMMY! Dinner [dinner]

I used Humbrol Polished steel which I believe is hard to get now. Vallejo also make similar. I dry brush over black until it looks "right". This way at least the bare metal is not too bright and looks more in scale.

Fair Dinkum? You had some vegemite toast? That is the best way to have vegemite short of a warm roll out of the oven. Manna from heaven Thumbs Up [tup]

Have a very merry Christmas followed by a safe and happy new year!

Well guys I know I said I would post back in november but I've been real busy and pretty sick with colds and flu's. One of my co-workers finds nothing funnier than comming in to work sick and spreading his sickness without any thought for others. But I have been busy on my entry and should have the first post here within 2 weeks and on the armour forum. It's been a difficult  one with the subject and the base kits. I did not want to post as the vehicles paint  is represented  as  two  units  married together  in a field conversion.  I'm  glad  I'm  on my Mac  and not the P.C. as I would be tempted to post what I have, but I don't store those images here.

happy new year to all.

sorry for still being vague.

Hey Redleg12 and heavyarty,

I went to my LHS today and picked up an AFV club's M102 105mm Howitzer.  I'm thinking about building it towards to Vietnam war era howitzer on a fire base (well... that is after I am done with few kits that I've already started).  How is this kit overall?  If I wanted to add a truck with it, then which model truck would be an appropriate one?

Thanks and happy new year!

Charlie

My heart is with the M102 (commaded a battery of them many moons ago).

The kit overall is good. The Eduard PH is nice but not necessary. I can give you lots of little details if you want them.

The M102 can be pulled by a number of vehicles. The 82nd and 101 used goats and the upgraded to the M998. Other units like mine had the old M35A2 duce.

If it was in a Firebase like VN the prime mover may not be next to the howitzer.

Here was my rendition of the M102, hopefully these photos help,

this was one of my early builds and not my best but it does give you the general layout and a bunch of things you can scratch build!!

Thanks for the photo!  Is this gun still in service? I remember seeing it air dropped and I was so amazed.  Well, I'll be picking your brain so make sure you check your email often! Big Smile [:D]

The M102 served from the early 1960s through ODS. It was replaced by the M119 around 1995. If you build the kit pre ODS, the kit includes a roll bar. DO NOT install it. That was a 1990 army modification. Prior to that, the gun was as in my pics. If you do a ODS version the you would need the roll bar and an M998.

The gun weighed only 3,300 pounds and the entire frame was aluminum. It was made to air drop and helo lift. There are three lifting rings, one on the barrel and one on either side of the wishbone. Normally it would be a 3 point lift with the 4th point being the A22 bag with ammo slung through the wishbone.

See you behind the breech block!!

Terry,

My wife is doing better now.  Thank you.

that Flak 88 on Panzer chassy looks great!  Nice weathering and that rust look real.

Did, Germans used it only for Anti Aircraft or was it also used as an Anti-Tank/Artillery as well?  I have never seen anything like that before.  But then again Germans did so many variations of everything and anything out of desperation too.

it's a recent find as in the last couple of years, I think.  It's use is unknown. the only record I am aware of is the photos I posted. I placed it on a concrete base so that it could represent either a layby on an autobahn, which were concrete or the airfield at Pilsen incase it was stationed there as AA artillery. I would imagine the PzIV was heavily damaged and it made available the chassis for chopping. The condition of the engine is certainly not known so the mobility of the vehicle would be pure conjecture. I would just hazard the guess that somebody thought it was a good idea to give a bitmore mobility to an important piece of artillery.

Will post more as I move towards completion.

Terry.

Finished the Long Tom. So here is a sneak look until I can get better pics.

If you treat this like an inaccurate limited run kit, then all is well. Not sure how old this kit is, but I would have placed the moulds as early '70's era, amongst the first of Hasegawa's 1:72 armour range.

Thanks for having the GB and giving me the excuse to build this little piece of history.

Cheers

Mike,

That Hasegawa kit has a special place in me.  That's the kit that I built when I was a kid and played with it until all parts broke off.  You've done a great job turning this old kit into something really neat.  Thank you so much for joining the Artillery GB!

As for me, holidays are over, wife is going back to work and now I'll finally have some time alone to finish off my kit.

Best regards,

Charlie

John, Arty, m1, you guys are making great progress! Mike, that is one awesome-looking Long Tom. Very nicely done!

....and sorry I haven't been around much, guys. Been very little going on at this end in respect to the hobby lately, but I have managed to make some progress on the LeFH18M. Hopefully I'll have some progress pics up soon.

OK, I got this metal beast ready to prime. It's not a very accurate kit as it was made more or less for the metal toy soldier market. Ah well, it is what it is!

Yeah still working on my photography skills.

DosTacos,

That's a great work!  First of all, your ground work is excellent and paint job on the gun.

Ogrejohn,

Your howitzer looks great too.  can't wait to see your finished product.

Ruddratt,

I'm in the same boat as you are right now.  I have a little time for myself today so I'll try to finish up FLAK 88 today.

Best regards,

I'm about to give up on the old 155 kit, and move onto an M102. The Testors 155 is so wrong that it's gonna be a major project just in the recoil system alone. I still want to finish it as best I can (and will). I'd say to expect an M102 to show up soon.

Lastly for all you guys wanting to build an M114, I found a slew of pictures that have been lost for eons. If any of my photos will help give me a yell. It's a shame that somebody like Tamayia can't give us a good quality 155 howitzer kit to at least start out with.

thank you M1grarand,

as I said that is my first real modeling work. I will be finishing up a 1/48 M10 tank destroyer in a total snow scene {Bastone}  as practice for the Winter war group build. {that will be an M 8 Howitzer also defending Bastone}

My son and I will be entering 2 tanks in a contest in town, we will at least get a tee shirt and a 20% off gift certificate to the LHS. the M10 and he has an open top German in 1/48 scale. {the contest is for Tamiya 1/48 mainly}

Overall for your first build back to the hobby and all the other firsts, it looks great.

A few tips to help with future builds. To show a little wear on the high points and trails rub a pencil tip along the high edges to give the effect of paint wear. The spades in the back would not be out of the ground...if the fired that way the gun would be in their lap Banged Head [banghead]. If you can't dig them in then try piling clay like a dirt pile or wood dowels cut to look like logs for bracing. The field telephone handset should normally be black. Lastly the ammo should have their tips a steel/brass color for the fuze.

Just a couple of tips to help. Each one you do will be better and the guys in this forum are of great help.

Hope you had fun!!

wear on trails, did that {not enough....}

as for the spades, cannot dig but can bury and add some sand and maybe sand bags,

will add fuses and repaint the phone {stole the radio from a Stuart tank and the handset out of the Tamiya machine gun/mortar/'zooka team box. too bad they don't make stuff like that available without having to buy the guys Sigh [sigh]

thanks, I will try to finish it up {again Whistling [:-^] } and pop some new pics

Upon further review I do see some pencil work on the trails, I was drawn to the sheilds when I made the comment but remember, this is art, it is subjective. If you are happy, don't make changes.

The spades, sandbags would be great. I understand the parts stealing thing!!

Have fun with it.

edit oops I was thinking of the M8 I am buiding for the winter build. the 1/48 has some interior but nothing to write home about either

eeh, ok but nothing to write home about {the Academy Stuarts have better interiors, the big issue is the gap for the M5 hedgecutter that is not in the kit so there is a big hard to get at to fill when the hull and lower chassis are glued together. I have not added the interior parts 2 rear corner ammo, a 2 round ammo block and a fire extingusher. then a top with the ma duce

very nice builds! Impressive :)  Sorry have not started mine, didnot have as much "hobby time" during winter vacation due to family health issues.. anyways, I will start mine very soon, but decided to change the Marder to something without a camo pattern, since Im new at this. Can I switch to the Tamiya 1:35 Sturmgeschutz IV?

Ok, I was FINALLY able to start this, few months late :)  No pics, nothing much except cutting and sanding the road wheels. Managed to send one flying and bouncing somewhere in my basement. Have not found it (yet) but found a small piece of a 1:72 Abrams MG I dropped last week :) . I already have couple newbie questions (this is my first armor kit, and the aforementioned 1:72 M1 Abrams Im attempting to put together for the Modern Armor GB).

1. Poly caps - Tamiya "motorized" versions include Poly caps for the road wheels... I *think* I need to use them, for correct spacing. But I should paint them, flat black? right? To get rid of the "shiny" look?

2. Painting instructions call for "dark yellow" base, with additional and optional field applied dark green. This is a late 43 vehicle, I assume I can use Panzer Dunkelgelb (MM enamels #2095) and Olivgrun (MM 2097)?

3. Priming... I usually prime aircraft with Testors flat gray primer (AB), mostly to look for my many construction flaws. Will the gray primer be "too dark" for an overcoat of yellow?

Once it stops raining I can shoot the flat black on the wheels and tracks, then do the dark yellow on the wheels using the template method... or so I hope! :)

Cheers, James

Well, congrats on finishing! Looks good to me, nice weathering...

I have some modest progress on my Sturm IV (chasis and wheels). Will post some pics soon and keep working, hope to finish before deadline. I also wanted to do the Tamiya 1:35 3.7 PaK 35/36, may not get to it on time :(

Dougums - Looks good to me! I like the tank emblems.. decal must have been a pain, maybe easier to have painted the barrel. I would only add a modesy light pinwash around the bolts, to have them stand out a tad more. Cheers!

Here is an update on mine, as we reach the final stretch:

Chassis work:

Wheels painted black, cannon construction:

Currently building up the mantle and starting the track painting. hope on finishing all major construction this long weekend, do my base paint and then weather during the week. I may need a few days of extension, just in case ;)

Hi and I'd like to thank all of you for participating in this Group Build.  I myself did not/could not complete my project due to several events have happened in past few months.

March 2008 is something that I do not want to remember at all.  3 of my closest family/friends have passed away.  One being my mother in law.  She was diagnosed with a stomach cancer in April 2007 and has gone through a surgery and chemo/radiation therapy up until her death.

I tried to get my mind back into building models, but I just could not get myself to do restart, so for the time being, I am taking time away from all my hobbies and just spending more time with my wife and the baby.

I'll post up pictures of my work (hopefully sooner than later).

Again, thanks for your participation and looking forward to see more great work!

Best regards,

Charlie

Ogrejohn,

Great work on that artillery piece!  Love the paint job on it!  Now, maybe you should consider getting few vehicles and figures to go with it Whistling [:-^]

Dougums,

Excellent work on that FLAK!  Would love to see that piece with some figures and maybe a nice base.

JMART,

Looks like a good start.  Keep us posted!

Charlie,

First, my condolensces to you and your family on your loss. We had a similar Spring (which also wiped out my building season), with a death in the family and surgery for the wife. She is doing better and I only burnt one meal. One "cliche" thats truly true... kids DO grow fast! Anyways, thanks for the update and hope that baby and family are doing well.

And dont forget, you are the GB leader, you can give yourself an extension ;)

Ill post more pics in the next day or two, once I pry the dig cam away from one of the kids..cheers!

I was not able to finish my StugIV on time... Im only halfway done (most construction done, waiting for basecoat painting). Was playing around with scratchbuilding tow cables and figuring out how to paint old tamiya vinyl threads. In any case, not sure of this GB allows "late" completions or if its officially "closed". Was a good one either way, learned a lot.
