Man sfcmac that's a lot of small parts, as for my build I'm going to start to night. I don't know if I'm going to detail the interior or not yet. But I'll post my starting work images late tomorrow. I'm not saying that I'm going to do 2 for this build but in some of my images of this version in the back ground you'll see one more being worked on. It's a IDF Armored Ambulance. One resion I want to build this version is that I have yet to see it done and I think it's about time some one builds it. So I'll do it.

The kit I have started is from Italeri and have got the supsendsion done along with the top and back end. This has me running into a snag in which I will have to redo the drivers hatch in order to fit right.Digger

Wow I haven't seen one of those in like forever. They caused a real ruckus between the different branches in the Army. The Armor and Artillery guys were dead set against it siting cost and resources but the truth is it just worked too well. Air Defense Anti Tank system. ADATS. Well seems like ADA is covered pretty well in this GB

Hello  and get out your tracked boxes cuz I am about to start. Since I was a Vulcan crew member for nearly a decade it is my natural choice.  Here is my starting point.

Now I am depending on myself to get this as close to the real thing as possible and will probably not be happy until it makes that lovely flattulant ripping sound when firing.  So far I have 5 kits to combine the best parts of. The Italerie Vulcan, the Academy Vulcan, and the newest M113A3 and M113A2 versions from Academy and Tamiya. Add to this two Edward photo-etch set, Friulmodel tracks and the MB models and Hobby fan M163 Vulcan conversion kits and you have one of those crazy expensive projects I told myself I would never do.Blush [:I]

I really just couldn't get by with less and be satisfied because each of these sets/kits add something to the mix that another falls short on. Starting with the tracks. I opened up the newest kits only to be woefully disappointed! What are these things? Ick! The direction sheets are for reference to what track came with which kit.

I mean the tamiya ones have not changed in 20 plus years and the Academy ones are even crappier. For charging over $30 a kit I really expected better and was disappointed. SoapBox [soapbox]

So what do you do? I chose to replace them. If you are into rubberband tracks the best set going at this moment is AFV. They are pretty close and dispell the rumor that mold limitations will prevent us from getting a descent M113 track. They cost about 6 or 7 bucks and are sold without having to buy another whole kit. Kudo's to AFV I got me 3 sets!Thumbs Up [tup]

While I found the AFV tracks good I still think the Fruilmodel tracks capture the look most accurately and while not a fan of the price tag I do want to have the best for this kit because it is personal to me and why not?

Ok enough about my complaining got to clean up my area so I can get to work!Wink [;)]

Gee I hope I got added to this GB?Whistling [:-^]

It is never to late one this GB to join right in.This group build is not really all that specialized on the M-113 due to that this little rugged APC has a lot of variants done to it.A lot of other countries have built them and have added their own improvements to it.I use to work at Red River Army Depot and saw all kinds of variaitions done to this APC especially the Chapperal. At the depot where I worked at is the home of the refits for the M-113,so yes Chapperals are included. This ought to be interesting to see if we can get a lot more people to join up and see all types of M-113 to come out.....Digger

I definately want to do my Vulcan. It is a personal project I have intended to start for many years but was never satisfied with the kits. I think I have enough stuff to make a real go at it now since the Hobby Fan Conversion kit finally gives a realistic look to it. If I'm not too late I would like to participate being an old Vulcan vet.  I have another question about the Chapperal being included. We always considered it M113 family as far as the chassis /drive train and the old lance missile carrier? I don't know are they too specialized to be considered. The Fist -V and Hammerhead along with the mortor guys version would be cool to see as well.

Im interested in this GB but I must locate a kit.

I have one, but I got it from Australia and it's a little sentimental.

You got a telegram from headquarters today. Headquarters--what is it? Well, it's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important right now. [ img] f_armorsecretm_ac7eb73[/ img]

as I was looking I found a M113 APC with that unit on top but I can't pull up the image as it was GB badge size but I see now I can keep my M113 some what box stock and build the AD-unit on top but I do like the one in the images I posted the most.

The top one looks like possibly a carrier for the Croatale(?) SAM system. Very nice! Doesnt someone make a 1/35 resin conversion of the TOW carrier? I am looking forward to seeing those beasts built.

Ok I got my images I wan to build this a lot.

It's listed as a self-propelled gun? any way I know i'm goint to have to do a lot of scratch building and I love doing that I don't want some high cost resin kit. All I need is time. As for the name it's called The ADATS and it's based on the M113 APC or I can build this it's a little easyer to do. The M113 TUA or called M113A2CDN TOW. I realy like the top one.

I'm in a bunch of GBs, but most of them are ending in May. So if this goes, count me in, maybe I'll do something Israeli for a change.
