What did you use to acheive such a nice panel line wash, GZT?
Nice build all the way.

After decaling, I paint the whole thiong with gloss clear  coat to seal decals and than used a water based pastel paint (black) over panel lines and clean the rest with a paper towel Smile [:)]

Pretty streight forward process, and if you mess it up you can always redo it easily - and THIS is improtant Smile [:)] probobly it takes about 2 hours to do it right ( maybe less)

Hey Raptor, what the hey - add me to the list! Not sure when I'll be able to get in on this one (several other GB's in progress), but with 16 months I should be fine. Wink [;)]

I'll do a Hasegawa P-51D...will have to root through my collection of markings to find out which one. Big Smile [:D]

I fancy this group build as i will be building a model of a P51 for another websites group build. I will be building a P51d from the Airfix 1:24th superkit.

And as for markings i will be producing my own markings for a aircraft preserved these days. In fact it looks like the example used in the badge, Jumpin Jacques based at North Weald, Essex, UK and owned by a freind of mine Peter Teichmann. I have already asked him to send me some drawings to help me with the artwork on the side.

Here is a photo of her as she is now:

And a better photo of the artwork:

http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6083962&nseq=12

Im not sure if i will finish her with a second seat fitted as she is now or with the world war two kit behind the seat.

Its going to be my first go at producing decals so it will be an experiance. I have the advantage starting with this one of being able to cross check with the owner any details i need.

I will proberably be asking alot of questions on producing the decals so stand by. I have been able to select this part of the artwork out of a side on photo i have of the aircraft. I also have been able to pull out the pilots name from the artwork.

Here is one layer of the artwork:

Obviously there is some tidying up to do to the artwork to prepare it to be used.

I get where you're going with the artwork, and all I have to say is... GO BUGS.  I love the artwork and I think it'll look great on a 1/24 scale mustang.

I'm in if you'll have me. This might even be my very first COMPLETED model, I have a 1/48 Revell P-51D that I'm starting. I've never actually finished a model before, so bear with me if I ask some ridiculous questions. I was considering some aftermarket, but have decided on going stock as it seems a good way to start, and it seems the detailing is good for the interior and instrument panel. I'll see how things develop, I have a choice of either the Big Beautiful Doll or the Miss Marilyn in terms of paint scheme, I'm leaning towards Miss Marilyn for the sole purpose of the green nose is very appealing, however, I have an R/C model of the BBD, so I'm somewhat torn. I'll figure it out when I get there though.

Hey fellas,
Here's the finished interior to my AccMini P-51A.  I used a
pilot from a Revell mustang kit I built long ago.

I scratchbuilt a lot of extra detail in the rear.  Gonna try an put
some decals on the camera lens to spruce it up a bit.

Also, I severed the rudder from the fuselage so I can pose it
at a slight angle later on.  Notice the balsa in the above photo?
I will use that to drill into and mount the aircraft in-flight.

I airbrush all of the parts green, then yes I hand paint.
Then I clear-coat and apply wash.  The wash always makes
it look so much better.  I enjoy that part.

I have my work cut out for me on the aircraft exterior.  There are
a few troublesome seams to deal with, so i won't be finishing any
time real soon.  I've come to really enjoy working the seams, sanding
the plastic, scribing panel lines, etc.  It's generally the lengthiest part
of any build I work on.

Three that I know of in 1/48, Greg.  HiPM and I think Classic Airframes in injected plastic, and then in resin and the best of the three is Collect Aire.  All three are out of production.  Surely there is a vacform, I may even have it, but can't remember who did it.  A conversion would not be practical, it just isn't the same airplane.

All that sanding I did on my Mig31 must have shaken something
loose in my head.

Don't bother with a conversion.  That would be incredibly difficult.
Get the Classic Airframes P-51H.  It's a really sweet kit.  There are
some reviews on the net about it.  It's out of production, so check
ebay or the internet shops for one (probably ~$30).  Here's my build:

Looks like my build is on hold for a while.  Everything I need to get going is either on hold or delayed for one reason or another.

I ordered a new book for reference and it's taking forever to show up.  I've been having a heck of a time getting the correct paint.  It just seems to be one thing after another.  Hopefully within a week I should have everything, but it's annoying to have parts of the kit just sitting on the bench and not being able to do anything.
