well, Liberty as an AGR was never really modified, so modelling her pre-attack would not be much different, but whatever, let's just get building!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Chris (Townsy11) I think you may have missed an earlier post of mine with my build for this GB.

If cross builds are allowed then put me down for a 1/48 USMC FJ-4B Fury.  Also, I am scoping out a Tamiya T-72 from my LHS.  Would the T-72 M1 qualify as I'm not really a tank expert but I think it was introduced mid 70's

Cheers

I pulled out the Roden AN-12 last night and put together a paint list. The interior colors are the strangest thing I've ever seen. There's a metallic blue band on the interior along the windows, the decks are gray, the cockpit is black, the loading ramps are green, the ceilings in the load space are yellow, and so forth. Thanks to God the exterior is gray.

My goals are:

preshading which I've never done before.

Paint the interior of the glazing first, from the outside, then the exterior color, which would also be a first.

Weight the wheels OOB, also a first.

Jewel formation lights, a first.

Get the camera in at four feet, new.

And so on.

I also think Townsy should have final say on whether kits fall into the set parameters or not - it's his GB, after all. Wink [;)]

Townsy - I'm still in the preliminary planning stages for this one, I'm leaning toward a T-72 (think I can snag the old DML kit) and prooooobably an Academy FB-111E. Lots o' bombs! Will let you know when I square myself away suffiiciently. Big Smile [:D]

Kind of surprised I don't have more that qualifies for this GB in my stash.

Darson, I'm not willing to speak for Townsy, but I can't see any reason a T-72 wouldn't qualify. NATO guys were looking right across the West/East Germman border at them for years.

Really sorry Darson, I must of missed your earlier post. I'll update the list now.

(and yes a T-72M1 would qualify for this GB)

Townsy11 - excellent! Will take me a month or so to start, waaay behind on other GBs and a deep hand laceration that needed stitches put a damper on my building....

Down the road, can I add a a/c and/or AFV if I have the time? Dont want to make a decision now and then not be able to complete the kits.

Townsy our we only allowed to do one kit for this GB? I was going to do a Revell 1/48 F-105D and the F-104.

Sorry guys I must have misunderstood your posts, I thought that the people who listed builds recently had decided to change their entry from their orginal one. Those who have posted their other submissions I will put them back onto the list.

Sorry bout that one!

(EDIT: If this has happened to anyone else I apologize and please notify me so I can add your other submission(s))

Guys I have a confession to make, I have been very bad Evil [}:)].  The Tamiya T72 M1 that has been calling to me for weeks now from my LHS is now safely at home in the too build pile Whistling [:-^]

Wouldn't you know it though, no sooner than I got the kit home I saw it back in stock at Hobby Easy for half the price Banged Head [banghead].  My one consolation is that it's much easier to sneak a kit from the car past SWMBO when I bring it home than it is when the postman delivers it.

Cheers

The scale of the USS Dallas is 1/400, not 1/48 (it would be HUGE in that case!)

Would support vehicles be included? I'm about ready to start on a M578 VTR conversion or an M88A1?

How about Dynavector's 1/48 Supermarine Scimitar? And if I'm allowed 2 entries, throw in Academy's 1/48 Hunter. Great Britain's a NATO member aren't they? I'm assuming yes...

Britain was a founding member. They signed the treaty that is considered NATO's precursor (the Treaty of Brussels) in March, 1949 and signed the NATO pact as a founding member less than a month later.

The Scimitar served in the Fleet Air Arm from '58 to '69 and the Hunter was operational with the RAF from 1954. The fighter and ground attack versions stayed on until 1963 and the mid-70s  respectively, and trainers were in use until the '90s. In addition, Belgium, Denmark and the Dutch all used it. Looks like it's good to go for the group build, and Townsy hasn't limited the number of kits people can build; he's got me down for two ships.

LOL! I try and time my Squadron purchases so delivery is made on the day I get home before my wife ;)  I have also mastered the "double layer" kit stash stacking technique, in which the spouse does not realize there is a whole other layer of kits BEHIND those neatly stacked boxes in the shelves Whistling [:-^]

got my RF4b in the mail today (1/48th Hasegawa). Nice kit but was somewhat dissappointed in the fact that I chose a block of aircraft that had only 12 planes! Kinda wonder what it would take to convert it over to an RF4e? But otherwise looks to be a very nice kit, but no real selection of aircraft (one Marine unit from what I can tell). I also have a Skyraider somewhere in the mail to work with as well (I plan on doing both planes).

DUH! Dunce [D)]Propeller [8-] sorry about that one Rex! I'll fix it now. (a 1/48 ship would be pretty sweet though...)

Yes I believe both would qualify, which one are you building(or both)? manufacturer? scale?

Oh, and Anthony2779 Sorry, but I must ask that you refrain from putting the badge in your signature until after you complete your entry.

My paint shipped yesterday. Looking good to go and that's a great list of projects.

My AN-12 is the Roden 1/72 and it's a big mother.

Sorry I was under the impression that the banner only indicated that I was taking part in the build, and that later on you would award some kind of ribbon when it was over. How about the "Modern Armor" badge ? should I remove that untill the date for the build expires ? or is it ok since I already posted my model ?

Most GB's require you to complete a build before you throw the badge up. In the case of Modern Armor, you're golden! Big Smile [:D]

Yup! as dupes said, since you've finished your build for the Modern Armor GB you can collect your badge, but you will have to wait to get this one.
