Can any of yuo tell me where i can find an LAV 25 kit? I'm a LAV mech in the USMC, and I'm looking for LAV and AAV kits to display in my section at work. any help you could offer would help

Thanks! Semper-Fi.

Trumpeter sells the LAV 25. Italeri also sells the kit but I think the Trumpeter one is better.

Still in progress but wanted to share my current LAV project. It is an LAV-300 of the Philippine Marines, references are hard to come for this vehicle. I have several pics from the Philippine Marine's website and several pics I took during Exercise Balikatan in Ternate, Philipines. There's not much measuring happening, just doing my best to make it look right.

I am using ACE's 1/72 6x6 Grizzly and the wheels from Revell's 1/72 Fuchs.

Ïnteresting looking vehicle. Nice job so far. The wheels are kinda big are they not?

036hir- That is one fantastic looking LAV! Excellent work.

Deattilio- Cool vehicle! Nice work so far.

Guys- Here's some "in progress" pics of my Trumpeter LAV-AT:

Hope to get 'er finished in time for the end of "The Hunters GB"

(As a side note, I'm surprised no one (except Tiking) has posted anything Stryker relatedConfused [%-)])

Outstanding -AT you've got there Chris! Those Trump kits looks to be pretty nice and you've done a sweeeeeeeet job with yours! I noticed some PE used there... is that provided with the kit? I also think that the tires look really nice too... kit tires? Love how you've turned them too... nice touch. Too 'stiff' on the Italeri versions.

Thanks for including yours here... Two thumbs up for sure!

Thanks,

Thanks Kevin and Charles! It's far from done yet though, It's still awaiting weathering, Jerry cans, stowage and decals but I appreciate the comments on it's progress so far! Anyway, Kevin, the PE and tires you see are Trumpeter's as I'm building it pretty much OOB (except for the stowage that's yet to be added.) The steering assembly was the only thing that gave me a headache with this kit but that's because I had to cut it all apart and reposition it in order for the wheels to be turned.

 Thanks again,

All I have are the old 1/35 ESCI kits, purchased when they were the only game in town.

LAV-25 built in 1990 after some photos I saw of them from Operation Just Cause.

LAV-AT built around 1994, Operation Desert Storm

And currently a WIP of a LAV-C2. Unfortuantely I did not discover Prime Portal's walk around of this vehicle until after most of the major construction was done so the rear plate is HIGHLY inaccurate. But it has been a cheap simple build otherwise

No showstoppers here compared to all the Trumpeter kits. But they plugged the collection gaps.

Pretty nice Carlos! An A for effort as I've heard all kinds of not-so-good things (hull profiles)about ESCI's LAVs and you've actually done several builds. Oooh-Rah! First time that I've seen any of the ESCI LAVs built and your builds look really nice... clean but nice! I wouldn't mind having those on my shelves! The more I see the -C2 version, the more I want one.

Good use of the (what appears to be Tamiya's Marder II) stowage.

Slow progress on my -M... way too much PE being added Banged Head [banghead] but, getting there. Whistling [:-^]

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

Thank you Kevin. Most of the stowage came from a now closed LHS. He had a customer who cast resin stowage items and sold them at a very inexpensive price. I bought up most of his modern US items.Evil [}:)] I have read of the accuracy issues about ESCIs LAVs but I just wanted the kits to fill the gaps. They look decent when built and with extra effort (no longer needed thanks to Trumpeter, can really be turned into very nice LAVs. At that time, I would call my builds, "motor pool" condition. No weathering and vehicles looking like they are ready to roll out the gate. I am planning on completeing the C2 as a Desert Storm era with my current  style of stowage and weathering. But photos of that time period C2s are hard to come by for reference.

I do like the LAV and BTR series of vehicles. Sort of the next step in evolution of the Kfz 232/234 series. I still have Italeri's Mortar Carrier and ADV LAVs in the stash to start one day.

It's a shame the Army never equipped the 9th Division with them as they once planned back in the 80s. There could have been lots of MERDC schemes seen, like on other vehicles of that time frame.

Hey Stikpusher, well done with those LAVs. I like the camo scheme. Very nicely done. I know you used airbrush, unlike me...who still uses spray or rattle cans...yeah yeah..I know. ;) Behind the times... :) :)

I also like the BTR series... I built this -70 just over 10 years ago... It still looks good however, eight of the nine tires have since split...

I think that what's happening here on this thread is fine with me. My...My 2 cents [2c]

My current project, the -M is already on the bench and well in process, so that could very well exclude me if there is an official start date assigned. (Whether or not I actually finish it during my lifetime is another question.)

Hey fellas...Chris suggested I post this here..this is my first ever armor build and it was a blast to do. It's the arv club M-1130 kit, and the hard part was switching my gears from clean shiny cars to this!!Laugh [(-D]...this "scene" is meant to depict training manuevers that were held in Korea a few yrs. ago...I added a partial interior to support the driver and vehicle cmdr. and added some extra details...Brian
