M1114 Armored Hardtop A/C vents - HELP!!
Posted by 036hir on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 10:37 PM

I looked in some of the past posts, but couldn't find any info about the possibilty of the A/C vents on the left rear of the M1114 hummer hardtop being available in some form; PE, resin, etc. That is, besides the M1114 MiG Productions resin conversion set. Anyone know of any source? I'm working on a M1151 FAC Hummer to go in a dio with the AFV TACP Stryker, both in Air Force markings. Got some pictures of the pair at the McChord AFB air show recently and, being a former AF communicator, it struck my interest for an Iraq dio. Any help of sources or even scratchbuilding ideas would be much appreciated.

Other than the MIG set, I don't know of any other M1114 PE or AM.

Of note though, if you are doing an M1151, the vents are on both sides of the body above the rear wheels, not on the sloped rear deck.  They are simple screens, so any PE screen would do.

M1151 A/C vents.

Full M1151 walk-around at Prime Portal.

Thanks for your info Gino, I saw that on Prime Portal, but missed those new vents.  The one I saw at the air show, looking again at my pics, was an M1114 with the radio rack installed, the new doors, and additional armor on the lower vehicle sides. Maybe an interim vehicle? I noticed in the Prime Portal pics that a weapons mount is installed on the roof. Can they still mount a weapon with the radio rack installed? Thanks for any info, Gino, anything anyone else may have.

If it is the standard radio rack up against the windshield in the middle, yes.   If it is some other radio rack, I don't know.  The vehicle you saw sounds like an M1114 with the latest upgrades.  The side armor is thicker, add-on plates and the doors have additional armor as well.

For the vents, you can take a rectangle of sheet plastic and cut slits in it, then bend the slits up into vents.  It works pretty well.  When it looks like you want it, glue the strip in place on the roof.

Good luck on it.
