Very Uexpected Awards
Posted by doc-hm3 on Saturday, September 13, 2008 5:56 PM

 Guys,

Last night I boxed up my armor pieces and decided to enter "OZCON 08" the local "IPMS" chapter's yearly competition. I entered my E25, Stug IIIB, Aufklarungspanzer SPG & Pak40. After looking around I thought that I would be lucky to place in any of the categories that I had entered.

After the judging was complete, the viewing area was re-opened. To my great surprise I had placed 1st in each category that I had entered. Armor closed top, Armour open top and Towed artillery. Needless to say I was shocked. And then when the awards were announced. I was surprised with the "Best Military" trophy, the "Best of Show" plaque, and a new award in honour of a long time club member Richard Le'Gaye whom died of pancreatic cancer this last year, the "Mockup-Prototype-Experimental or Concept" Award trophy. I truly was humbled on this day.

I had to share this with you guys members of "THE FRATERINTY OF THE DARKSIDE"

All gave some and some gave all.

Congrats. Great Job. I know how ya feel. This past March I entered my first regional show down in SC. I had hoped to gain at least one third place. When it was over I walked out with 2nd and 3rd in Aircraft OOB, 3rd place in Armored Cars and Half Tracks, and 1st place in Modern Armor. Also managed to get the Most Models Entered award.

Those are some fine builds, Doc. I think that the clean paint jobs with restrained weathering let the quality of the build show through, and this may well have given you the edge.

Well done!

Cheers,

Chris.

Although they really look great, don't get too pumped up though; the next contest you take them to .......well, you might not even place. Wouldn't be the first time either.

Very nice builds indeed! Congratulations on the recognition you received for them...it is an incredible feeling when you approach a competition with no expectations and are rewarded with praise...but when you also receive the overall awards as well...wow, I can't imagine.

Cheers

So true, so true.  I took a best tank/best armor vehicle/best of show once too...but Sir D is right, you may get skunked at another event...just roll with the punches.

BUT...this is not to take away from winning...BEST OF SHOW!  MY sincere congrats, you deserve it...those are some fine builds!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

BIG, BIG Thumbs Up [tup]Party [party]   Way to go all the way to the trophys.

Keep up the awsome work.  It is inspiring me to take a couple of my builds to an upcomming local show.

Darkside, Whistling [:-^]  just turn on the nightvision and we can all see.  Besides, when ours breaks down, we just stick out our thumbs.  Air heads can but the sudden stop may hurt alittle.
