When I started reading this thread I noted that it was for Jan. 11 and I was going comment on missing the start.  Didn't realize it was also 2009.  I hope this is not due to some temporal anomaly.

Anyway.  Glad you got back to it because it looks great.

Well being home with a sik child allowed me to get a few things done on the Tiger during nap time.

I got the yellow painted onto the main gun, spare track on the turret and road wheels are on.

To paint the edges of the steel wheels I first painted a strip of silver paint on some paper towel and rolled the wheels over it. Next I did the same with Testors Rust Enamel rubbing off excess before it dried. I like the effect, let me know what you think.

Finally, I started to weather the tracks. I tried pastels for the first time. I mixed some orange, red, and brown; added water and applied it like a wash. When it was dry I used a tooth brush and scrubbed each link to blend the colours and bring out the silver. I would like to know what you guys think of the results.

To show the difference I only scrubbed one track. In the pic below the top track did not get the scrubbing yet.

From another angle. Track on the left is not scrubbed off yet.

Interested to know what you guys think.

Why I love Tigers? Because modellers like you make me love them!

And your version and unit (507 SwAbt?) is one of my favourites.

Excellent!

What issue(s) would you have encountered if you had not put in the sprew brace in the forward hull?

What issue(s) would you have encountered if you had not put in the sprew brace in the forward hull?

The front of the hull would have been too thin and I believe that the front of the deck would not have fit. I probably could have forced it in place but I was worried that the pressure put on the deck in that area would have caused it to pop off eventually. With the brace in place I am assured that the fit is good.

Thanks JohanT.

A little progress; slow but still moving forward.

Got the decals on after a coat of Future:

Started with a wash of burnt umber:

I got the wash over the entire model now and will post more pics when I can. Wifey and I are going away for the week-end so I hope to get back at the tank soon after. If I am happy with how the wash turns out I will drybrush with tan, spray a flat coat and hopefully I can call it done! Almost there!

Did you glue the torsion bars at their ends only or did you set them by the road wheels at well?

Nice build. I love the looks of the Tiger more than any other of the time except maybe the Cromwell of the Churchill. I love those big flat sides.
