M113 FSV WIP or Tacobuff's return!
Posted by TacoBuff on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 8:28 PM

I'm back! i've been in sort of a armor slump for the last few months, and decided to get back into it with this Tamiya kit.  This kit is old.  The box had dust underneath the shrinkwrap, and the price tag had faded to yellow, it had been sitting on the LHS shelf that long.

I took full artistic license on this one, and added an interior and an engine that's loosely based on the actual unit, but if isn't exactly like it, please don't tear me a new one.  Sorry about the blurry pics, but here's were I'm at.

in addition, I added a turret basket from the academy M3 honey kit.  I just wanted a change, so I moved to the cold war.  I think my uncle rode in an M113 while serving with the Marines in Vietnam.  I know this APC was used by the Australian's strictly, but I'm just gonna roll with the artistic trend and add whatever markings i feel like. What should I add to the interior? it seems empty.

Thanks

Hi Tacobuff,

Nice work, but the interior of the FSV doesn't have the bench seating as it wasn't used in APC mode. You have a pair of ammo boxes (interior, left side rear) where the fuel tank should be.

Some ammo racks (76mm) would bring it a bit closer. There are some interior pics here: http://svsm.org/gallery/M113A1FSV and  http://www.toadmanstankpictures.com/fsv.htm

There's some additions to be made to the exterior too, if you're interested.

Hi Phil.  Thanks for the photos and feed back.  Those look like some easy changes, and additions, I'll see what I can do.

Nice start to the interior. The interior will be a white, which of course should then be weathered. Yep the fuel tank belongs on the drivers side rear.

Keep it coming it's moving nicely.

Here's another pic which may help with the fuel tank. http://www.grubby-fingers-aircraft-illustration.com/images/M13_FSV_02_med.jpg

The turret interior/cage appears to be aluminum (lacquer?). Most interior pics of the FSV that I've seen seem to show the basic interior to be pale green. Confused [%-)]

You know they say ingorance is bliss.  I don't know what the interior is supposed to look like so I think it's pretty terrific.
