                        I love the way the wing-wipers refer to armor as "targets".... forgetting that to the little guy sitting behind the bush with a Stinger on his shoulder a low-flying aircraft is a "target" also......Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

                        Since confession is good for the soul, I've asked Santa for the 1/48 Airfix Seafire FR 46 (?) and the Trumpeter TU95 Bear. But wait.....I've also asked for the AFV Club LeFH 18 Howitzer. Certainly that has to count for something!

                        Dwight, nice job on the Thunderbolt II (I hate the name Warthog! It's such a cool airplane.) I've seen a couple of live fire demos where they used A-10's. I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that Vulcan!!!!!! No WAY!

                        That's an awesome weapon. It's the only plane I know of with armor. ( I could be wrong, I don't claim to be any sort of expert in this field) Don't know why they aren't making them any more ?

                        If I remember correctly the A-10 uses similar bath-tub style armour as the Cobra helicopter does.

                        Seen a few pics of the armour after they bounced a few differrent shots of it awesome stuff.

                        I like the A-10 now if I could only find a decent 1/48 scale kit of it.

                        Just for the record: the IL-2 "Stormovic" (Russian WW II attack plane) also had armor plating, so much so it was dubbed "The Flying Tank."

                        MMF: There are two 1/48th kits of the A-10, one by Tamiya and one by Monogram.

                        U R very lucky that you can even think about doin a plane-especially one that big!
                        I can't even get the cockpits in mine to ever sit right-funny-ha-ha-ha-laugh at beav, but I can get a full interior model to sit and look just right-go figure.

                        Don't they call the A-10 a "Flying Tank", too?? It seems to me I've heard of it refered to that way.
                        When I was at the live fire demo, they would come in from behind us. You'd never hear them til just after they passed, and you'd hear this brrrrrt sound. Then the tank (or whatever) they were using as a target would disappear in a cloud of dirt (litterally). It was a very awesome sight!

                        While everyone is confessing I must confess also Ashamed [*^_^*] I have a huge liking for the P-38 Lightning ( WW2 fighter). I like armor but planes are also so fun to do. So I am sorry and definitely ashamed of my absurd speech.

                        it might not be sleek or pretty to some, but the A-10 is one of the few things that an infantry man and tankers love to see flying close when they need air support...

                        Ok People!!!!!!!!!!!! I redeemed myself today... I got a Tamiya M8, M3, a Mobelwagen (which was on the clearance rack for 1/2 the prize plus the other 1/2 off so it was about 13 dollars) and a Academy UH-60 DAP in 1/35 at hobby lobby at 1/2 the prize Big Smile [:D]Tongue [:P]

                        I need to ask for forgivness..........

                        I put back a Tamiya Marder III, a Tamiya Early M4, and a Tamiya M4A3E2. All at 1/2 price.

                        Just couldn't afford to drop even that amount of cash right now. I've had a lot of unplanned for expenses lately (not associated with Christmas).

                        It hurt, but it had to be done.Sad [:(]

                        i have a 1/72 spirit of st. louis on the stack...
                        and am contemplating further sin in the form of a dio of a B-17 and 'red-tailed devil' P-51 in February to honor the legendary Tuskeegee Airmen...
                        thinking of 1/72 for the P-51 and maybe go w/ smaller scale B-17 for forced perspective in the dio. a B-17 is pretty big even in 1/72 !

                        well, I have to do my meteor and me-262 for a school project on jet engines. hehe its fun having a good excuse!

                        its funny, but 2-3 years ago I would have said that I liked airplanes better than tanks, but when I started modeling, for some reason or other, armor intrigued me more than planes!!
