Bill,

Thank you for the complement. I pretty much always use Solvaset. Every now and again I come across a decal that will not budge. What I'll do then (as with this decal set) is "pour" on the Solvaset, find a task that takes about 10 minutes, come back, put some more on. You know, lather, rinse, repeat. It took about three of these "cycles" to get the turret decals to snuggle down.

I didn't get anything done at the bench yesterday. Between the errands, getting kids where they needed to be, to do list, and a out of town sparring invitational last night... by the time I got home it was all I could do to get to bed. So today the docket is cleared (in theory) and it is a bench day today!!! Wooo Hoooo.

Here is a BOO-kay (sorry I couldn't resist) of wheels.I went heavier on the dots this time since when I've done it in the past it ends up lighter after everything is said and done. I have yet to get to the turret and hull since I kind of played around with how I did it on the wheels this time. No pin washes just yet

I'll post the hull and turret later today after I "dot" them. The LHS is having its annual pre-holiday sale starting today. They've got a few I want to add to the stash. The wife said go forth and add to the Sacred Stash. Wooooo HOOOOOO! to SWMBO.

Well, I finally got to the bench to get the dots done. Kinda hectic around here of late, between work my eldest coming down with H1N1 (aka swine flu), and life, the bench took a back seat.
I've been using the dots for a while now but, this is my first time using it on a multi color camo and with zim. I chipped around the commanders cupola using the technique Bodge shared with us on his KT (fantastic job by him by the way). Check out his KT if you haven't done so, you won't be disappointed!
The dots ended up being subtle due to the uneven surface. I think I've able to capture it in at least a couple of the pics.

WOW! That's high praise indeed as I've followed your KT build and, THAT is a fine build!

I actually got the tracks painted several weeks ago. I got the graphite rub started on them today. I've got a comparison shot between graphite vs non-graphite track. The last shot shows what I've taken to using. A couple of smudge sticks and a graphite stick (which you should be able to get at any art store).

Thank you! It's getting there. More fiddley detail work to go.

Got some more done today. Got the shiny parts on the middle road wheels done. Everything is flat coated to prep for a filter. Maybe. got the wheels on for a mock up. Gotta run and get to sparring!

Having seen your work up close and personal, I hold your words in high regard.
I kind of have a soft spot for the Big Cats.
I learned a long time ago to play ones "weaknesses" (i.e. OCD) as a strength.
"ID by the Odd" ...... LMAO. I shared that with my eldest daughter and she was laughing hers off as well. Thank you for bringing laughter into my day. Sorry for spelling errors as this has been an exceptionally long week

Thank you for taking a gander at this beast. As I've stated before, I've tried to replicate a random camo scheme. There is another I would like to tackle... It's an Ausf G with dot camo on the schurzen. The problem with this decal set is that they tend to detonate. Not just shatter. There are number decals on the spare tracks on the turret. Gotta figure a way to pull it off. It's a really cool color plate.

Wow! Thank you! What I was looking for was a suggestion on a figure to use. I'll give you a call this weekend brother.

Those smudgers do make a nice subtle difference. I used to just rub on the graphite, until I came across the smudger tip in the forums here. The funny thing was that I had some from a looooong time ago. Just never connected the dots to use them at the bench. Anywho, they do help to give a better rendition on burnished metal. You can also get a nice blended area between bare "metal" and a painted area. Not the stark demarcation line that a pencil/graphite stick leaves. I used the blended effect on the inside faces of the drive sprockets where the guide horns would rub. Realistic? Who knows. Artistic licence? Most definitely!

My intention was to start getting this beast dirty with some mud (new and old), dirt. High hopes for this weekend. Didn't happen. I have forced myself to slow down at this phase, since this is where I usually get the project all properly dirtied up and, realize that I have missed some details.
Here is one of the drive sprocket now properly worn

A couple of shots or road wheels with the side walls painted Vallejo German Grey to cover the overspray from when I originally painted the weels. Also the idler wheel

I had completely forgotten to paint these wheels until today

Here is one of the bumper stops. I painted them German Grey with a Vallejo Dark Rust dry brushing

The jack NOW properly abused.
