Jim: Thanks Jim and just because I appreciate you so much Jim I am going to give you a detailed answer. As to your question it has been a journey. My original and present ideal was to create an Oasis scene in North Africa where a Italian AS 42 has just arrived with Germans already present at a North African well re-supplying. The SAS patrol unexpectedly blunders into the two elements and the fun begins!
Originally I was going to build a Steyr 1500 but then I decided to continue with the gun truck theme and represent a gun trunk from all three countries. I then found the Leadwarrior site and since i already had ordered and received the Steyr I fell in love with the Steyr 2000A 2cm. Flak.38 AA Gun Carrier conversion kit so I ordered it and a Dragon 2 CM 38 Flak 38 with a Lion Roar PE set and metal barrel and all was good with the world.
I then decided maybe I should research a bit to make sure the Steyr 2000A was present in the DAK theater and sure enough that conversion did not happen until 1944 and was only on the Western and Eastern Front. I admit to a little flare up of impolite language! Not to be daunted I then decided I would build that on the eastern front and that I would build a Horch1A 2cm Flak38 conversion. Remember this is all happening as I am building the Chevy. I am a busy little multi-tasker! I then joined Ebay and found the old Tamiya Horch 1a with Flack 38 for $10.00 no shipping because the lady lived ten minutes from me and I found the Edward PE set for $15.00 from R&J. Again all was good with the world and visions of scratch building kept me warm at night.
This reference picture was my inspiration:
I was very happy and I am still waiting for the Lead warrior conversion kit to arrive so to make a long story longer depending when that shows up I will build that or the Horch1A.
