It would be pointless to say I had forgotten about this build since I already forgot what I did yesterday.. At least I am reminded about one of those now. Keep at it this time.
Marc
VT, I have a feeling yours will be even better.
Eric

Nice work on the Zimm! Two years? I thought that's the norm rate for many of us.
Andy
Thanks for the kind words.
@tigerman: Hope mine turns out that well
@wbill: Not as nice as being on the cover of FSM!!!
Nice job on the zim VT!

Just found this build and will be following it. I to have a set of those fruils for a porsche King Tiger.

Yah baby. Love Jagd-kitties. Did one myself a year ago.
Holy smoke! I'm glad I had this one bookmarked. Good to see it back up on the radar.
Wee ones can take a bit of time. Enjoy them while you can.

With enough thrust, pigs fly just fine.
Zimmerit done - just have to complete the rest of the tools on the sides and front and it's ready for paint.
Nice to see you back at the bench vt! Hope we don't have to wait another 2 years for an update!

So - ummmm....it took me 2 years to find my work bench again. My 7 year old boy is showing interest in building so I figure I might as well dig out a build while I help him. Do I get some sort of procrastinator award or something? :-)
Glad you are back and congrats on th enew addition!
Thanks guys! Good to be back!
Nice to see you back at the bench VT!
Congratulations on the new addition to the family.
Those Friul links may cross your eyes but, they are going to look exquisite in the end. You won't be sorry you went that route. I'll be looking forward to this beasties progress.
Cheers

That zim looks really nice.
Five pieces per link? Geez, maybe I'll trade that Tamiya KT in the stash after all.......
Apprentice rivet counter.
Back to work after 6 months on other hobbies and projects. (Maybe I was just avoiding the PE and zimmerit application!). Got the tail end pretty much wrapped up.
And here we have the completed Porsche suspension.
I know how you feel with the Fruil tracks, I went through the same ordeal on my JT.
Rob
M1Carbine Well congradulations to you and your wife on your new daughter
Well congradulations to you and your wife on your new daughter
Thanks M1! The good news is that chasing around a busy 18 month old (she's adopted so she's older than an infant) gives me a great excuse to sit and relax at the workbench
I agree with everone else, cant wait to see this move along looks
Bob
As if Friul tracks weren't tedious enough...check out these buggers! Five pieces per 2 links. This will be mind numbing.
I too am looking forward to this JT build, count me in as a watcher. looking forward to the first round of pics.
Glad to see the interest. I’ve been on a ‘break’ for a few months with my time being occupied by my new daughter and various other hobbies and it sure feels refreshing to get back to it. (And imagine my shock at the new look to the FSM message board!)
This is my first “Work In Progress” thread detailing a whole build instead of just the painting and weathering. I hope it proves useful and I hope to move this build along at a steady pace this once, but we all know how life gets in the way sometimes.
Here are some personal goals with this project:
1) Zimmerit – be nice to finally do a build with some (and thank goodness I don’t have to do it from scratch)
2) More drastic/dramatic painting and weathering techniques. Being my 5th model, I’ve noticed that some of my painting and/or weathering effects may seem pleasant and subtle from a first person view, but when good photos are taken, the subtleties can washout or even disappear. Want to remedy that without going overboard to make a more exciting model. It’s all about the right balance.
Definitely going to keep an eye on this one, looking forward to the next installment VT!
