New M113A1 decals
Posted by T-rex on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 7:03 PM

Thought of giving my old but still nice looking M113A1 with some leftover decals from an M10, AVT and Blackhawk decals, I not sure if this would work but I really like it, espesaly with the nickname "cowboy"

I also don't know if the new machine gun I added is acceptable too, it belongs form this hobby boss kit that I'm almost done.

Hi T-Rex,

Fair enough for a "what if", but it's pretty certain that the markings on your M113 FSV are inappropriate because it was an Australian only modification and never wore US markings. If I recall correctly, only about 18 or so vehicles were converted to  this configuration and apart from a small handful which were trialled in Vietnam, most have never seen use outside of Australia.

Really? only austrialian! I could have swore that some have been in US marking, well I couldn't have made it austrian cause the original decals were destroyed long ago. But a "what if" is good enought for such a limited subject for this model.

Well I must say I don't like the Wehrmacht license plates on your M113. What if or not, silvering decals don't help you any, neither. There are ways to improve on that, please let me know if you need any help on that. Have a nice day

In short, No.  Even if it was a US vehicle (which I concur, it was only used by the Aussies), the decal combo you have on it would not be seen.  Like Pawel also says, the silvering is really bad too.  Truthfully, it looks pretty bad.

Thats odd, it shouldn't look that bad, maybe its the flash, or the fact the decals are really bad quality from that old kit, well I applied these long ago, I just wanted to post to know if its acceptable. I'll redo it another time, but for now. I want to get working on that V-150 from hobby boss And A old rusted T-72.
