Hi Frank -- yes they are! The impetus of a group build is always a great way to move a shelf-queen along into the display case, so bring on that prior project!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

PS: I mined the stash yesterday and one of the items I pulled out was the Tamiya M1A1, which is now lined up with its Echelon decals, all ready to go come January.

This looks like it will be a well-stocked GB, I can't wait for January 1!

Hi Vriez -- well, started and nearly finished are not quite the same thing... How far along? NATO black is usually the last camo shade I put on, so small parts and decals are probably are you have to go by the sounds of it... Got a photo??? Here's an idea, build it a shelf-buddy! There's a whole year to have some fun, too.

True, I guess you could say it's nearly finished..   I just don't want to have to go buy a brand new kit..  Crying

what's the top on best kit for these nowadays?  I've been taking a break from armor in order to do some aircraft lately..  currently doing the older Tamiya kit.

Hi Vriez,

The very best these days? Wow... I'd have to nominate Dragon's late-tool kits, like the HA and the AIR, with slide-mold technology, PE right in the box, turned barrel (I think), and featuring fighting compartment detail... But they're expensive. I scored a couple on eBay over the last five years but they're rare to win for what you'd call a bargain price.

In comparison, the Tamiya M1A1 I'll be building here I won from a seller in Israel for about US$7 -- you can't walk past a bargain like that! Honestly, haunt eBay, search on "M1 Abrams" and manufacturer names, the chances are you'll score a bargain before long. And with a year to build in you can afford to be patient until you find just what you want.

Cheers, hope you'll join the brigade,

Mike/TB379

Hi guys,

This build will be kicking off in a few days on the Group Build forum and I realised it's been very quiet here! I put up the last post 12 days ago... We're on page 6! :-) The premliminary thread for my Phantoms GB beginning on the same day is busy with enthusiasm, with kits and AM supplies being researched and acquired -- then I realised I hadn't heard frrom the Dark Side in a while! The holidays have been busy, of course, and I know many in the north are snowed in (and/or heavily committed on other builds, some of which are finishing soon.) I hope there's still interest in this endeavour!

I have my kit and decals, with some PE on the way, I'll get the launching post up on Sunday with the rules and roster of builders who have so far expressed interest. I hope you'll all drop by during the year and build some great tanks!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

My M1 Panther is waiting in the wings!  As is my Hase VF-84 F-4J for the Phantoms build.

To all tank commanders -- this GB is officially ON! Check out the main thread on the GB forum!

Many builders had not decided their kits and specifics at time of posting to the current thread so the roll is made up from existing expressions of interest. If you could forward details as they become available, Page 1 will be updated accordingly.

Best wishes as New Year rolls through the US, and I'll see you down at the tank workshop!

Cheers, Mike/TB379
