Thanks for the kind words people.
Hattals. It was painted in Humbrol Enamels but the weathering was done with so many shades that I couldn't suggest what colours now. I think the base was mid stone and then lightened with a little yellow instead of white (white changes the colour not the shade) as a shade coat and for dry brushing. As to the camo net, the result is from a heavier wash in the crevasses, follwed by several lighter drybrush shades. Each dry brush session was started a little closer to the middle of the net and not touching the outer areas, giving a better 3d effect.
This is the old Tamiya kit (re-released since then as a European vehicle with some (slightly) better figures and decals). It was built OOB with just a bit of extra stowage added including the Boys (nice pick up Chris aka M1) from the old Italeri weapons kit. I really enjoyed building it back then. The vehicle is so small that I felt it needed a simple dio base to do it justice. I hope I achieved that.
Looking at it now, I cringe a little bit - The eyes on the figure (the kit figures had no definition to guide you), lack of sand deposit in the tracks, a little more wear around the hull and running gear (as suggested above), aerial andcabling for the radio, etc, just to name a few things. It's funny how you pick up things you missed before.
I gave many of my completed kits away to nephews, etc when I stopped modelling for a while. I only kept a few that had a sentimental attachment like a M4A4 that I built when my wife was pregnant with my first born (now nearly 16), a Churchill Crocodile (the first allied vehicle I built), a Stug 4 with the first scratch built building ruin, etc. The M4A4 was never quite finished and is in my 'to do' box (I can post a few pics but you would have to turn a
eye to the rubber tracks that have come free of the track skids over the years, etc).
What the heck. I might post a few as a 'see what should be improved/what not to do' session for some newer modellers. Ha, ha.
