Help me choose my next armor build...
Posted by DoogsATX on Thursday, February 17, 2011 10:08 AM

The dark side is addicting. I'm itching to start another armor build, but I can't decide between my stash, so I'm open-sourcing the decision. I've set up a poll on my blog to help...

http://doogsmodels.com/2011/02/17/help-me-choose-my-next-armor-build/

In return for a vote, I'll be giving out one free internet! Many thanks!

YESSS!!! A free internet for me! I'm in Canada - does this offer still apply to me? We generally have to answer a skill-testing math question to "earn" the prize rather than just have it given to us. Weird, considering you just know everyone goes for a calculator!!

I threw my vote in with the Achilles. I usually lean towards German armour, but I like the sharp lines on that thing.

I vote for more cow bell!

But seriously, I voted for the Achilles. Looks like a cool piece of armor that I've never seen before. So do me a favor and build it, thanks. You can donate my coupon to a charity of your choice.

Well, the Achilles is blowing everything else out of the water so far...guess I'll be overcoming my fear of painting up a vehicle with an exposed turret!

And I may just see about putting a cowbell on it somewhere, just for kicks!

A little brass cowbell would be the finishing touch, sitting alongside some spent ammo & other crew items. It can be your new signature, a cowbell hidden in every finished kit!

That was easy... voted for the Achilles.  Because I believe there has been no WIP on the new kit here in the FSM.  Free internet?  I'd rather to get a free beer... Beer

With the crew items? Nah, dangling off the rear hitch!

Now I have to figure out how to scratch a cowbell. Thin brass sheet and one of those push pins with a ball head? Maybe Hobby Lobby sells really small bells. Hmm...

If the Achilles wins (and, barring a major rally from the Panzer IV, it looks like that's how it'll go), I'll do a WIP thread on it. Don't expect glorious scratchbuilding craziness - I'm still very much a rookie when it comes to armor - but I'll do my best to do the thing justice!

As of this morning, it's looking like it'll come down to the Achilles (12) or the Panzer IV (8).

Anybody still want to get a vote in? I'm going to keep the poll going until Saturday evening...

Manstein's revenge

Panzer IV...

You don't need to do this model.....

This is not the model that you are looking for.......

You may go about your business building the Achilles......

Move along.......

ACHILLES!!!!

http://www.bemyastrologer.com/achilles.jpg

You know...that movie could have actually been pretty good if it hadn't been for 1) casting Brad Pitt as Achilles and 2) the last 20 minutes. Eric Bana, Brian Cox, Sean Bean, Peter O'Toole, Brendan Gleason...all fantastic. Wolfgang Petersen's direction was pretty good too. But I never for a second bought Pitt as Achilles.

I know, Brad Pitt just isn't, well, Greek enough. I enjoyed it, but can't remember watching it more than a couple of times.

Uh, in your list of fantastic actors you had one small over sight...you left out Orlando Bloom....egregious on your part, I know you'll never do it again. Apologize to the masses then please, start building the Achilles and we can forget this ever happened....thanks.

Vance, I think Doogs has us all outsmarted by connecting our IP addresses with the votes, so stuffing the ballot box might be tough.  Unless you hop on a dozen or so public WiFi nodes.  That may work.

I just tried to vote again.  Didn't let me, even after clearing my Internet cache and deleting all those damn "cookies".  Good thing, I was getting hungry.
