The seller does say in the listing that they will entertain offers for individual items...this is a simple and effective way to list and avoid the massive e-bay fees that would come from individual listings per kit...the guy's gaming the system quite effectively from that aspect IMHO. Wink

Ye, forgot about that bill. But wouldn't that mean that he would have to put in a new add everytime he sells a kit.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Not really, if someone inquires about a kit he's already sold, he can just say it's no longer available. He'd only have to update the listing once it "expires" and he has to put up a new one. Now that e-bay allows for a certain number of "free" listings per month per user, so long as he doesn't sell the whole lot he can use it as an effective vehicle and dodge the whole seller fee question entirely and not owe e-bay a penny. I think its about 175 kits at an average price of around $18.  I dont know what figure sets go for in the US, but at my LHS they are around the $20-$30 mark.  And most Armour is $50-60 in range.   If it were in Australia, I'd be interested.  But I doubt people have that sort of cash just lying around.  And $800 for delivery seems steep.  Surely you could get a bonded courier service for less ?

psstoff995's lbro

Surprise  Quite a few kits!

Who doesn't like WWII German Bill???

Me.....not a German kit any where in my stash....no tanks, no Shermans, just US artillery and AFVs Wink

As far as the bid, for someone who is interested is in "German"  kits, I agree with Bill, it is a great buy. It is a bunch of money to spend in one shot but.....if you have the spare cash, it gets it done in one shot.

You know, the only thing wrong with that picture (the stash of kits) is how much it sold for, and how few kits there are in the picture. I was sort of expecting an actual sea of models, and then it was, 'Is that all there is?'.

The reason I say that, is well I looked behind me, and looked at my shelf, and it came to me, 'my god, it's full of models'. Now I am wondering if I should think of property insurance. I normally try to NOT put dollar signs on any of my possessions.

The contents of this room's hobbies likely are the same as a downpayment on a home.

I think some people need to control their impulse buys.

I just realized that this guy is violating eBay policy, big time. He's offering to sell part of this collection, which would mean that he's breaking the sale up, and selling offline. You can't do that on eBay. That prevents eBay from monitoring the sale, collecting its fees, and leaves the buyer without recourse to action if the sale goes bad.

This guy's kidding himself if he thinks he's going to get even half of what he paid for these kits. He's just dreaming. "Cost" on these kits would be cheaper, so I can't even see a store buying them. He needs a dose of reality and needs to decide what he wants to do about selling them in an eBay-legal way. But it doesn't sound like he wants to face the reality of his impending financial loss.

this led me to thinking, why doesnt fienscale have a buy/sell/trade section. Easy way to get rid of kids you dont want  as well as parts.

A simple little typo had me laughing harder than I have in a long time. Smile

The reason FSM doesn't have a B/S/T section is a) it detracts from the ad sales in the mag and b) potentially creates a liability issue for them as a business that they don't want to deal with when b/s/t deals go bad.

Seems like the seller is rethinking things. His new ad has the starting bid at $2750.00 and shipping at $250. You could also Buy it now for $3250.00.

I think some people need to control their impulse buys.

Tell me about it :)

2010 I likely spent 1000 bucks on purchases I wish I hadn't made (non model items though in this case).

I downsized my 35th scale stuff to online friends. The deal was if you want it you pay the shipping and you could have it. Items ranged from completed and no work left, to never even out of bags in the box.

Yeah I might have eBayed them too, for a few bucks. But, once the money is spent, it's time to get over it and move on. Some of the kits I had had for years and some only months. Doesn't really always matter.

Like you said, some people need to get a grip in their spending :)

Makes sense, another site I'm on has B/S/T but it isnt affiliated with anything. Works quite well but then its all local. (MAASF)
