It could be an early production Mid. Zimmerit began in the fall of 1943, so the Mid versions could be built with or without the zimmerit depending on the time frame. A Late Tiger would have to have the zimmerit to be accurate for the record.

Tiger, you were right about that kit. I know what happened though. The back of the box doesn't mention the DS tracks, just the magic Tracks for the spare track links. I didn't read it, just saw the image of the magic tracks.  Where as the Wittmann kit mentions both track types.

Though how i didn't see the big strip of DS tracks when i opened the box i don't know.

Looks like i better get another set of fruils then, bugger. Bang Head

A picture of the DS tracks are on the side of the box. Wink

I wouldn't use the Academy kit if I wanted real accuracy. The outside has many small and subtle shape problems, the interior has major ones, and is an Early interior in any case.

Academy didn't sort out exactly what was the sequence of changes during the Mid period, so it's incorrect to build the two examples exactly as in the photos. And there were very few Mid Tigers without Zimmerrit, and the kit doesn't contain the parts that you need to build one; most importantly, the smooth tracks.

Yep, there sure. I never looked at that, just at the back.

Think i might give the DS tracks a try, instead of the £120 it would cost to replace them. See if they are as good as people say.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
