My second build this year - 60mm Mortar
Posted by Model Maniac on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 4:23 AM

Just posted my first build this year in the Aircraft forum, here's my second build. It's a Chinese 60mm mortar 1:2. I painted the body with Leyland's Dark Green and the eyecup with Flat Black (can spray), hand-painted the handle with Tamiya's dark brown and that's it.  A very easy project:

Have fun!

I look up my purchase record so as to answer your question. I got it in 2005, it is named Type 1963 60mm Mortar (Chinese), scale 1:2, Maker = - (dash or unknown - I have its box but no name on box). No other kits in this scale is known to have existed. This one comes with a bag of plaster cement or Paris plaster for adding weight to the base, the barrel and the mortar shell, just adding some water and waiting for it to set.

That's pretty cool, Phaisal--and it's BIG! I would never have thought you could get something like this in a model kit?!

Nice to see you posting some of your own builds too! Big Smile

Many thanks for your kind encouragement, Karl! I gotta find another project to work on soon.

BTW, I just opened a Facebook group last month named after me, i.e., "Model Maniac". You can see AI's WIP (SAS Jeep 1:24) there plus newly finished work from "pj" (120mm Tiger I Crew, Normandy 1944 - 2 full figures). It's an open group which anyone can read:
