WIP - 3ID OIF 1 M7A2 B-FIST
Posted by HeavyArty on Friday, February 22, 2013 6:01 PM

Here is my latest work. I have been working on an M7A2 B-FIST from A Co, 2-7 IN, 3ID during the invasion of Iraq. This vehicle is part of a larger project that a group of us has been working on for the 3 ID Museum. We are all donating models that depict vehicles from the first Thunder Run. A large diorama with these vehicles will be on display at the 3 ID museum.

This vehicle depics HQ 71, 1-9 FA attached to A Co, 2-7 IN as it looked after the first Thunder Run, which was the armored raid into Baghdad on 5 April, 2003.

During the fight, it took an RPG round to the left rear. This is the timeframe I will be depicting.

I have basically completed it to where it is ready for paint. I still need to add the RPG spall and hole to the left rear. I added anti slip using Rustoleum texture spray paint. I updated it with pieces from the Legend M2A3 set (cream-colored) and added a bunch of scratch pieces (white styrene). The stowage baskets are Eduard PE pieces, which are very nice.

Here it is so far:

Thanks for looking.

Wow, great idea. A diorama of all the built vehicles to be displayed.

Looks good, I'm anxious to see how you paint the damage

A lot of work has gone into that Brad. The last one I built (Tamiya ODS), I basically just threw in the towel and built it OOB for one of my NCOs. I find it hard to accurize a kit I am intimately familiar with; I never know where to stop detailing or when to stop correcting.

Looks great!

Rob - Thanks and I hear you.  I keep looking at it and saying to myself, "Oh yeah, I could add this, and that, and oh, that...."  I just had to call it quits.
