Hlow do you like your armour?

In anticipation of the fast upcomming M1 tank build, I was just curious how other modellers out there like to proceed in building their tank kits.

I generally assemble the lower hull completely, sans wheels and tracks
Paint lower hull
Paint wheels and road tires (if any)
Mount wheels, then do the whole 'chipped paint' step on the whole lower hull.
Upper hull build next, basecoat, wash, then chip paint
Same steps with turret.
Assemble/paint tracks and mount onto wheels.

After all these steps, I'll assemble and paint all the accessories, such as towing cables, externally mounted tools, etc.

Then into the overall weathering process, such as an overall wash and drybrush, dust coat, 'dirtying' of the mud guards, etc.

I've seen a few people out there build up the entire model (tracks and all). I personally am not good enough of a painter to do this, so I do the subassemblies.
I was just wondering what the rest of you out there are doing Smile [:)]

I build everything possible and then paint except for the tracks which I do separate. Sometimes I will break it down into stages, depending on the kit.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

I build most of the basic vehicle (except road wheels) and piant that and then add everything else prepainted (mgs, gear, wheels and tracks, tools, etc.

I do pretty much the same as you do zokissima lower hull minus the tracks paint wash and little drybrush, then the same with the upper hull and turret. After it's all together I do an over all drybrush and weather. last is the tracks.

Keeping in mind that it does depend on the kit.
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

I normally assemble the whole kit (minus road wheels and tools) then paint. I like doing the road wheels seperately, So I can weather them individually.

I don't have a normal myself. I just open the kit and start putting things together. Sometimes paint as I go, sometimes put a bunch together before painting. Still trying to find my groove in the assembly area I guess.

Build as much of the base color as possible first. I like to the wheels seperate, if they're the rubber ones, and save the tracks for last. i also paint tools and gear seperately.
